So why did Zero clone Big Boss again?(ending spoilers)
If a random medic with no prior experience could become Big Boss through mental suggestion and by listening to cassete tapes then what was the point of cloning him?
Why not use this method to create more Big Bosses?

I thought what made BB special was his genes but apparently they longer matter since anyone can become Big Boss if you "believe it" hard enough.
Don't give the medic was his best soldier crap.I am sure there were plenty of other good soldiers out there.

Zero cloned Big Boss to have copies of him as a figure head. Venom worked for a limited time...but he eventually remembered what happened. The clones were meant to take Big Boss' place should anything happen to him.

Idk those clones came b4 the Medic was brian washed and then they tried the same thing with Raiden

your spoiler tag is on the wrong end..... but yea it was to make a target out of the clone so big boss could do what he ended up doing in previous games.

Either you didn't understand the ending nor listen the casettes, or...

First of all it's not a random medic. It's You.
Second the medic is not a random joe pulled from a closet. The casette provides info that says that the medic is one of the oldest soldiers in BB's MSF, and he was his best man.
Third the Medic (You) was trained personally by BB and has enough combat experience to be a proficient combatant (no gene stupidity).

Lastly.... HYNOTHERAPY SUGGESTION CANNOT GRANT THE ABILITY TO DO THINGS YOU CAN'T ALREADY DO!!

And Les Enfants Terribles project happened long before Big Boss trained YOU to be like him. Like 12 years before? Also, maybe it is easier to make new Big Bosses by cloning him than he alone training more of them

Ocelot did all the work.... BB was still knocked out and had no idea the double was being made....
Honzou Sep 25, 2015 @ 10:49pm
Yes Les Infant terribles happened before MSF.

The reason they wanted to clone BB was not for his physical genes, although it didn't hurt that BB was a "good" specimen what they were trying to clone is the whole package. The physical, and genetic memories of BB.
This is based on the theory that living beings can contain genetic memories inside their body and when a person passes their genes to the next generation, they are supposedly unlocking previous knowledge. Funny enough there was a religion that had a very similar theory before scientists came up with it.

Basically turn BB into an eternal icon that would never die due to the amount of clones that were supposed to take his mantle. Apparently they didn't get the Memo from M.Bison that it isn't such a great idea. The Medic (You) alreaady had the needed training and combat experience so all they did is make him believe he was BB, nothing else.

He did believe he was the legend after hypnotherapy so that probably gave him an edge mentally in a placebo "sugar pill" type of thing.

The clones are about 12 years old, Big Boss trained you 9+ years ago.

EDIT: Beaten to the punch by a much better post.

They grow really fast.

The closest Raiden got to being Big Boss was being led around by The Patriots to pretend he's Solid Snake in Shadow Moses.

Going by Eli and Solid Snake... They seem to grow normally through childhood, but as an Adult, Solid Snake went from like 30 to 70 in the 7 years between MGS2 and MGS4.

Also he and Clark (para-medic from mgs3) sponsored les enfants terrible, a us government program. For one thing he wanted to preserve big boss' "soldier genes" because he's the iconic legendary soldier. That, and Zero anticipated Big Boss' potential departure from Cipher. Plus Zero convinced himself Cipher needed that legendary icon. Big Boss was "front man" so to speak
BvB1 Sep 25, 2015 @ 10:54pm
So yea he covertly manipulated us govt into developing the program while funding it in the shadows, all in case BB left (and apparently to preserve his genes for perfect soldiers)

To be fair, Combat Medics aren't exactly lacking in mental edge considering this guys need to be able to keep their cool while providing first aid and/or improvised operations in the middle of the battlefield.

But yeah... That is up to debate to be honest. What matters is that for all intent and purposes you play as BB, except with one less limb, and shrapnel. But is going to complain about a missing forearm when you get some really cool robotic arms? :D
BvB1 Sep 25, 2015 @ 10:59pm
It would definitely be some subconscious boost or somesuch. He's the best, the legendary soldier. Anyway the robot arm is awesome
