Need Ending Explaination (Cassette Tape from you know who)

Guys I am confused about something concerning the ending of the game. I can see how everything ties in to the very first Metal Gear game.

Basically Venom Snake becomes the Big Boss from Metal Gear 1 that Solid Snake kills because of the cassette tape that he gets from Big Boss at the end of The Phantom Pain that has the same title as the mission in the first Metal Gear "Operation Intrude N313."

What I wanted to know was where do you think this was all happening during the cinematic? There were a lot of gun shots in the background while this scene was happening so was this occuring while Venom Snake was already in Outer Heaven? Were they just effects in the back ground to make the scene look cooler?

Venom died to give Big Boss more time. They underestimated Solid and Solid ♥♥♥♥♥♥ their ♥♥♥♥ up.

But it's about the ending of the game, I do not know what's going on there when he gets the Cassette tape from Naked Snake.

There are gun shots that can be heard, but no explanation as to what is going on besides the fact that he is being contacted by Naked Snake.

When you look at that cinematic, Venom Snake punches the mirror, and then you can see the Diamond Dogs logo turn into the Outer Heaven one, I saw this as the game telling you that almost a decade has passed, thus "Operation Intrude N313" has begun, they should have aged Snake just a little bit to make it clearer imo.

In the very beginning of the game you see the same room, with the mirror, with the tape and a title says

Just another day in a war without end
OUTER HEAVEN

So it is definitely taking place there. Kojima did remake MG1, he simply only remade one room of it =)

Also in that ending is an MSX2 machine, the game system that got the very first Metal Gear. I think it would have had a bigger impact for non-Japanese gamers if it was an NES, but Kojima didn't direct those games and they came afterwards. He is connecting the player to the true start of the series.

So is Venom playing the original Metal Gear game in Outer Heaven? Or is it symbolic? The reveal of the system only comes at the end of the Truth ending. Venom is not simply the medic but also stand-in for the player. The first shot in the game is a mirror facing you, the player. Is Venom in the room too just out of sight? Those shots could be soldiers firing at Solid Snake. They could be Solid Snake killing "Venom" Big Boss. It is up to the player to decide. For me one of the main themes of this game is Big Boss collaborating with the player to create the legend.

I am playing the entire game again from start. Paying close attention to things I missed earlier. I think the complaints about story are overblown. The whole thing is brilliantly orchestrated, 2nd half pacing issues aside.

People have vastly underestimated the story imho. They want an easy cutscene that shows literally the plot. I think Kojima is too much of a film geek and an idiosyncratic voice to go that route. The real story is deep, symbolic, thematic, and will probably not be realized by many players.
