the nes version is a bad remake
No, that's Jack, the true BB.
No, that's John, actually. >_>
NES MG1 is kind of a bad port anyway, it doesn't even have a metal gear to begin with.
Both are equally right. The Boss and Zero both call him Jack.
Yes and no, The two MSX games (one of which was ported poorly to NES and butchered beyond belief so it isn't accurate) are cannon. Snakes revenge, the second NES game is not cannon.
That said on release only the first MSX game was ever translated to english and only sold in Europe, the first time North Americans had a chance to play the two MSX games was in 2006 when they were bonus content to the MGS3 re-release Subsistence. If you really want to play these I reccomend you pick up the legacy collection it is only missing four of the games considered cannon (Portable Ops, MGSV:GZ, MGS:TPP, MGR:R).
NES versions is not cannon.

According to Kojima's account, the port was developed by another Konami division at Tokyo and were given the source code from the MSX2 version without the consent of the original team. Many changes were made during the porting process that later led to this version being publicly disowned by Kojima himself.
