Seeking official information on "boaster" skill
Im tired of seeing conflicting information on the boaster skill online, some say its positive others negative. Some examples of the information out there, the boaster skill means they can hide their abilites but once reaching motherbase their real skills show up or its a ability that only actives during fob defense missions to hide their skills some say they show higher stats and others lower.

So anyone out there with official information on how it works and a source to back it up I would greatly appriciate that and Im certian future google searches will be also.

Boaster is negative on motherbase since you're fultoning a soldier that you think is good but mediocre at best, and positive on FOB, just like they boasted their skills above their actual levels to you they boast their skills to the invader, could hide their actual skill and fool invaders into thinking they are getting better soldier when they are not, could draw the attention away from your actual good soldiers.

That's the gist of it.

If thats the case I best start kicking them out, for where im at currently with a army made of "A" above soliders I feel I should be having much higher base levels.

Boaster disguises their stats out on the field unless you have the best scanner (S++), that one reveals skills and lets you see their true stats without needing to fulton them to base and revealing that they are in fact a Boaster who was lying about his true skills.
Putting Boasters on your FOB will only fool an invader if they haven't researched the best scanner, otherwise it will work as intended and disguising your soldier's stats. They have no negative effect, that's what Troublemakers are for.
I can now confirm after testing this with an analyzer (S++) that boasters hide their rank in the field when you scan them. I scanned an S rank support soldier, extracted him and when he showed up in the brig, his stat was only A++.

So it's safe to assume the rank is only changed in the field, true rank is shown in motherbase!

Also, extracting soldiers with multiple S ranks + boaster skill usually means they have at least 1 S rank skill

Do you have any proof behind that claim other than your word for it? Because so far the boasters I've scanned have had the exact same stats on the field as in base after I scanned them with my S++ scanner.

I don't think you understand what a boaster is. A boaster ingame is someone who masks their true stats when viewed through the INT scope. Any boasters gotten through volunteering show their real stats.

To also add, before the FOB update, boasters showed their real stats regardless. Which is why so many people have boasters, they were actually good. Now? Avoid them on the field, but only on the field. Anywhere else and they are fine.

Boasters only merely 'boast' one or a few of his skills 1 rank higher.
A++ -> S
S -> S+

Also note the color of the gauge, if it's orange it's A to A++, if it's gold it's S to S++.
Boasters don't hide the color meaning it will never go over a rank that changes it:
Meaning they will boast about their A+ rank being A++, but not A++ to being S.

Previously, the skill was bugged and did nothing. The stats shown in the Staff Management window reflect their true stats.

Then explain why I found someone showing S++ if boaster only goes one rank up. (This is Mosquito I'm scanning) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=540553434

Yeah boasters cant stand them, however i recently got a solider actually ranked s+ who was a boaster not sure how but it may have been a tank i fultoned instead of killing.

That said anyone know the dynamics of finding actual s+ and s++ ranked in single player?
Is multiplayer the only way to get s+ and s++ soldiers?

You can ONLY get S+ and S++ soldier from FOB raids or from the ONLINE dispatch missions. They CANNOT be found in the normal "single player" game otherwise.

Edit: Ooops I forgot you can also get them from trading in PF points.

What really sucks is someone who brings up a 2 year old post for absolutely no reason of value whatsoever. Like really? All this information is well known. Got a question about it, just ask, but don't raise the dead.
