The hellbound mission is severely broken

I managed to get to the part where you have to escape the metal gear, and the LZ can't work because of the chase sequence. I kept going on D-Horse (who is also completely useless in escape scenarios) and out of nowhere the screen fades to black, and I apparently failed the mission. The game has been great up to this point, and I know I can go back and restart at the Plant, but I don't want to go through so much backtracking for such BS. Why is this something that happens on this mission? Why is the abandon perimeter such garbage? Why?

Run thru his legs and take cover to the immediate left, then alternate when he walks around, stay out of his sight and you will be fine :)

If you have problems with any mission, just go to youtube and check power pyx's channel, it helped me a lot.

I'm doing the mission now, the mech is 90m away from the LZ, and the stupid helicopter won't land

I've found the best way to deal with this part of the mission is to run on foot with the good Dr. and hide behind some rocks directly to the left of Sahelanthropus at the beginning of the scene. You will have to run up the hill immediately after the cut scene ends with the Dr. on your shoulders, use the rocks at the top of the hill to block the robots machine gun fire. After the volley ends run down the hill towards where the chopper is but do not cross the road yet, keep looking back as you run to make sure there is rocks between you and Sahelanthropus. Once he loses sight of you (you should be just accross the road from the helecopter pick up point) he will attempt to destroy rocks near the last point he saw you then he will deploy seeker drones which will report back movement to him. Wait for the seeker drones to deploy and do their laser scan and after that sneak accross the road and the pickup should be possible. (note this method also awards the extract huey without him being shot)

The key to success is avoiding the sensor drones, im pretty sure they're only motion sensing since i've had one of the lasers go through my character durring play and it didnt cause alert, sneaking behind rocks and moving between them works best (the d horse and d walker are so loud!) edit: i also use the sneaking suit... not sure if that makes this part easier or not since i have not tried it without it before.

Don't worry about it, I had the same exact problem. I was like "why can't I just escape on my horse and you guys can pick me up somewhere else?" Apparently that's too simple. Just plant some c4 somewhere and hide near the heli. Once he's over there searching for you, blow the c4 and he'll go investigate. Since this isn't a base there won't be any alarms set off for causing an explosion and he'll be intrigued as hell.

"Out of nowhere" meaning "I had no idea what to do so I ran away from the mission area without looking on the map while moving away from my objective"?
