Plus, he makes a good show.
So I'm gonna watch this Joe's review now.
And +1 on TB too.
>his first metal gear solid game
seems legit
He was corrected/reassured of the rates at the time (which he raged at. Which is pretty fair considered what they were at the time) >5% for a 'rare' card. He was corrected on the lack of importance, but it was a rant, certainly not a review or professional opinion besides the "This buisness model sucks"
Ok, i have been waiting for your review on this game and i'm glad you didn't stay blind and see what problems this game has rather then giving it blindly 10/10 like gamespot and other sites like that did. But i am fan of MGS series and i played the previous ones and the problems you pointed out i see as much bigger problem than you. After finishing MGS4, i thought that Kojima simply won't disappoint because i so loved MGS4. But actually he did disappoint with MGSV. Or maybe it is Konami's fault, but the story simply sucks, period! MGS series has never been just about gameplay. It always had very deep story and awesome cut scenes. The long cut scenes and deep stroy is one of the features that built its fan base. And there aren't much of cut scenes in this game. The ending is simply bad and EXTREMELY disappointing. I won't spoil anything for other, but it's really bad ending. Even Kojima himself must see it, because when i remember how awesome story the previous games had, i just can't believe he wouldn't see that the ending of MGSV simply sucks. The last part that has been cut out is not really much. It still does not conclude many things that was happening in this game and it doesn't cover the what is happening in the future (i mean the old MGS games, since this is prequel). In fact, after seeing the ending, you will start thinking that the whole story of MGSV is completely meaningless to the other MGS games. In other words, they dun ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up with the story and hard. Period! As for the gameplay again. I agree, it's fun. How you build your private army, the stealth, all the animations, action, etc etc... all this is great. But the maps gets boring after some time. You just keep revisiting the same locations over and over with just different objectives. The extreme mode repeating missions are completely pointless! As for the Africa. I was expecting jungles. They showed us jungle in the demo video, but it's only small jungle. The first time you land in Africa, you go through jungle and then you step out of it on the place which looks almost same empty just as Afghanistan. Africa disappointed me a lot. And at least from chapter 2, i would appreciate whole new region that would refresh the gameplay. It pains me to say it, because i was such a fanboy of MGS series, but they dun ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up this game as Metal Gear Solid. Be it some other game, it would be probably pretty good, but for MGS standards, nope. It's hard to blame Kojima for it, because i just don't believe he would ♥♥♥♥ it up like that, because he was always so good with his story writings. So i think there must have been some politics going on in Konami during the development of this game, because the story is NOT FINISHED!
"MGS series has never been just about gameplay." - Okay, wait. Wut. Have you only played MGS4?
" the whole story of MGSV is completely meaningless " - It's a tie between two games, There wasn't much elbow room for new stuff and they've been pretty blatant about how Kojima.Pro wants to try leave the "Movie" game that MGS4 made it and they actually fixed themselves with MG's Big Boss death.
The game was cut, but what remains is still very much enjoyable and pretty amazingly fun. *every* game has books worth of cut content.. MGS5 is no different other than it seems that they couldn't repair it in time.
As for the "Dissapointment" you felt.. The game's built around those large open places, If Africa was all more jungle than savana, It would of ruined the game.
Also, Word of warning. Don't overhype yourself and research any game you care to buy.
--Also also.
Did you ever even follow the development? Not only with Kojima.Pro/VS/Konami.. But the P.R. on this game was ♥♥♥♥. The information to consumers was mixed around since Day 1.. And Kojima himself *DID* spend money self a quite stupidly in some decisions.
Research any game i care to buy? Are serious? This statement would maybe fit if i bought Ground Zeroes and then i was surprised how short that game is. So how could i research the ending of TPP? Even if i could research it, i wouldn't wan it to be spoiled for me. So stop argumenting with nonsenses.
If you like the game as it is, good, i accept it. But it disappointed me, just like many other MGS fans. Period!
MGS5 isn't too close to other Metal Gear/MGS titles.. So.. What's the problem?
Ah, sorry, i was under the impression rants were reviews of a sort, misunderstood the meaning of the word i suppose. Doesn't really change my opinion though.
