Unequip All Weapons/Primary Hip
This is bugging me unbelievably much and is my biggest gripe with the game. The fact that I can't unequip my rifle and just go in pistol or just with a sniper is a little bit silly. It's possible to take off your back weapon and items but no where can you take off your primary or pistol. It's clearly possible because on a few missions later on you can unlock a subsistence version without anything, but I want to do that by choice. I wanna do side ops like that. Don't tell me to just equip a crappy AK or something cause it's just not the same. I need to play OSP on the fly and I really hope they add it in via patch.

I wish we could carry them. Just as enemy soldiers carry them.

And that would add like... "aim time bonus". But would make your cqc slower.

You had armed cqc on MGS4 though. I don't know why they wouldn't add it here...

I agree. I wouldn't mind it so much if I could upgrade my AR to fire, say, .50cal bullets or something. As it stands, I never use it because my side arm is more powerful at this point. If I can shoot down a chopper with my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ revolver...what's the point of my AR?

I've been using my sawed off shotty to take down helis. It's actually more effective than one might think.

It's possible to hold the weapon selection menu and select "nothing" so you aren't actually equipped with anything at all as you run around, even aiming in won't suddenly pull out a gun. I know that's not what you wanted, but it's close enough. It's a shame you'll still have a gun welded to your hip, but if you bring something like a sawed off Rasp shotgun it's hardly noticable most of the time.

I wish OSP mode was an option for every mission that doesn't specifically require certain equipment like the Quiet fight. Rather than adding new missions in place of what could of been other ones on the road to 50...it should of been like a tab you switch to in the mission screen. Missions (OSP), Missions (Extreme), Missions (Stealth) for example. Some people would call that padding out the game by turning 50 missions into 200 missions...but it would of been nice to me.

If they implemented it, I'd much rather be able to select which things I don't want to take. I might do a few OSP missions, but then only want to take a sniper. I don't neccessarily think it should be a mission option but a loadout option instead.

why is this actually a problem? can't you just not use the rifle you have? it does not affect anything to do with the game or gameplay. what is the issue if you simply did not use your rifle? just bring a non lethal rifle. I bring a non lethal just in case I do make some noise i can quickly take everyone out w/o killing.

you can simply not use it, so is it just me or am i missing why this would be so complicated?

It's annoying because

1: It feels clunky to run around with an unnessessary rifle/pistol. Sometimes I want to go into a mission with a lightweight loadout with just a pistol. I hate the look and feel I get off having even the smallest rifle on my belt.
2: It gives a new feeling of intensity scavenging for ALL of your supplies
3: I don't have the willpower of a the Buddha all the time and having a weapon so easily accessible is too tempting.

Honestly it's not a big deal. I say it's the biggest problem I have with the game because I find the game so superb. It just surprises me that with all the detail in this game that going OSP is not an option. It's not like it would be difficult to implement at all.

Also it cost money and resoucres to deploy with any weapons and items.

That is really one of the big reasons I'd like to do OSP, or at least have the option of no primary as well. You pay for deployment cost even if you won't use it at all. I'd just like the option.

Yeah. A mind blowing 170 GMP to deploy a two barreled shotgun...

it really does not cost much at all being that you can select a low tier.. it's also very helpful to just carry a primary non lethal anyways.. i get it though about not wanting to see it, that to me would be the main reason. I do get tired of seeing the largere weapons they are in the way. i almost would prefer he magically pulls em out everything from nowhere.

Yeah, I'm rolling in money at this point in the game anyway so it's not so much of an issue anymore.

If you've seen the quiet player mod, you pull your weapon out of thin air whilst playing as quiet. So it is possible to make weapons invisible with a bit of tweaking.
Sephiroth Sep 17, 2015 @ 6:31pm
its because they assumed you wanted to play run and gun
