What is the point in using other soldiers?

Why would I choose anyone other than Snake?

Snake moves faster than everyone else; reloads faster, aims faster, takes less damage, gets longer reflex time, climbs faster, has a higher chance of fultoning, gets resources faster, can use the bionic arm, and has the sonar ability.

Even a soldier with S++ in everything can't compete with Snake.

In Peace Walker, Snake was very good at everything, but certain soldiers would be more specialized for certain roles. Maybe they had more HP, or moved faster, or had more shooting accuracy. Get lucky enough, and you would even find soldiers with better stats than Snake in everything.

But here, Snake is objectively the best for EVERYTHING. It's a waste of a feature being able to play as your soldiers when they are worse than Snake in every way.

It was great fun in Peace Walker catching Pokemon, checking out their stats, and using them in the field. Here, using anyone other than Snake is just silly.

Females look much nicer when you're crawling with them, from behind. Also, they pull off most of the suits better than Snake can.

That's about the only reason, beyond slowly levelling your soldiers + that one achievement.

Some people dig playing as females, I guess.

I don't think they cared much about it but let players do it anyway if they wanted. So you could run around with a name like BAS-TARD MAMMOTH and annihilate all. I mean Motherbase soldiers and even your intel guys still call you Boss even if you play as a lowly rank E soldier. It's just a feature. Be glad they cared.

Also it's obvious they tried emulating Peace Walker in many areas so, it'll be just another feature they swiped. AND THIS TIME THE BALACLAVAS ARE OPTIONAL!

Also, play as a black Venom Snake. It defeats racism, tis multicultural, m'kay?

i would have used them more but cant stand that they sound like they have been lung shot after sprinting..

it can be a way to boost the stats of the soldiers...the more you use them the more their profienciecy GAWD I CAN'T SPELL goes up...leading to a higher level combat unit

medals for certain actions with your soldier (defending your base, sending successful on an virtual operation and saving them from "zombiefication"; will grant you three different medals. that's how you level a S soldier to a S++.

Yeah, that choking on ♥♥♥♥ sound is annoying. They do make the Sneaking Suit look good though, like someone said earlier. All the males (including Snake) have Chun-Li thunder thighs when wearing it.

They're still pointless.

According to this[i.imgur.com], skills affect damage taken, ammo recovered, fulton times, marking times, and medicine effect length. Aside from the damage taken part, that is absolutely pointless. And you'll still take less damage with Snake because of the bionic arm skills.

There is one achivement you can get by using them. They then went back to worshiping the ground Big Boss walks on in MB, the way it was meant to be.

Fun. Also since the functionality is there modders may look at the system and make it more interesting.

I do play with my S+ ranked female soldier on the Side-Ops, and do the Story missions with Big Boss. Gives more of a feel that the Diamond Dogs actually do something while their Boss is out in the field too, you know?

A thing I noticed though various testing, using your "recruits" also makes it where snake will not turn demon if you go on a killing spree with your "recruit".

I'm not sure if this works for pc (this was done my pc4) and after going on a massive killing spree with my A+ soldier, I noticed that snake looks the same as he did for the first mission, his horn is still small and hes not covered in blood.

Snake is only A++ so having a solider with S or higher will perform better (e.g. having an S in combat skill will mean they have more health than snake). They can also have perks, I play a lady who has double the amount of reflex time as snake.

Snake does how ever get a light version of all the skills through his arm upgrades.
