Have you seen mission 51?
He mows down a whole squad alone with his gun. Semiautomatic handgun.
Did you play Peace Walker?
He can blow up Cocoons with assault rifles.
Did you play MGS3? He can out-snipe a living (well... "barely living" xD) legend.
He can outgun a spaghetti western spetsnaz commander.
Which makes me wonder even more why he cant put more than 2 shots on target without the firearm going up ridicoulously high. He was also former SF no? It doesn't matter if his speciality is infiltration and CQC...you'd expect a soldier of that caliber to at least handle a firearm better than a 10 year old.
I'm the OP. I'm on your side...
Even the first shot gets messed up some times. And you won't land the second in the same postal code, no matter which gun you are using.
Yes, I burst-fire. But it's equally useless...
Those who want to remind me that this thread is old, don't, I know.
There are many things wrong with ballistics in this game.
1. Unrealistic effective range. Sniper rifles don't shoot further than 210m before bullets start dropping. In real life even assault rifles' effective range is around 600m. Is everybody using subsonic ammo in this game?
2. Bullet dispersion is as if Snake (or any other DD staff-member) picked up a firearm for the first time in his life. They're soldiers; how are their shooting skills so messed up?
3. There's a big problem with shooting at enemies who are in certain animations. I can't tell how many times I aimed for the face and hit the hand of an enemy who was aiming at something. It happened to me so many times that I was able to clearly see that I wasn't projecting it; I was aiming at the face at a very close distance with a scope. The hitbox of the hand on a weapon is way to big. And in addition to this, if an enemy is in animation (or 'near' or 'post' animation) the bullet will hit anything but not what you're aiming at.
4. There's another problem is with enemies hitting you. I'm not going to describe it. Just watch the video below and look carefully at how enemies bullets fly.

5. Enemies can shoot any direction being behind a fence; the player cannot raise their weapon so that the fence doesn't get in the way.
Somebody is being nitpicky over here, anyways shooting isn't a big problem in this game since it's still better than the previous ones, period.
"Period" is for facts, not for opinions.
Be grateful that his game even features bullet drop.
"Period" is usually for so-called statements of facts, not for expressions of opinion.
You mean when you spray the gun, right? So that's normal isn't it? Because if you don't spray it you have better accuracy, or I'm missing something?
So you think the other MGS games has better shooting mechanics... State your facts then.
