Extracted the White Mamba without giving him the opportunity to resist?

Every time I try to tranq the kid, he goes alert. Even when he's sleeping to begin with. I'm aiming for the head, completely undetected, but it never works. Is this bugged, or am I doing something wrong? There are YouTube videos that seem to show the exact same tactic working perfectly.

Well, I just got it to work, doing nothing differently. It seems that it's bugged; sometimes the tranq registers, sometimes it doesn't.

its easy go during the day and go to the left side of the ship bring a sleep snipe cuz he walks on to the balcony at times just get a headshot and boom

I was getting headshots. He still alerted instead of passing out. It took around 5 tries before one finally registered.

For anyone having trouble with headshots not working, try throwing a decoy under his chair and deploying it immediately. Should knock him right out.

Go right out to the pier area where it starts telling you "you are leaving mission area" and stand on the furthest pier out, use a tranq rifle and wait for him to kick back on the bed, you get a clear shot of his face while he sits there with that smug look on his face that makes you wanna just punch him.

If there was an alert at any time before you try to headshot him it won't work. Once you get to the sniping point undetected he will always immediately go to sleep with a headshot.

This isn't always the case. In my case, the game checkpointed with me at the base of the boat. From this same checkpoint, I snuck up and attempted to tranq the (sleeping) White Mamba 4 times before it finally worked. I never alerted anyone on the way up, and if I had done so prior to the checkpoint, it wouldn't have eventually succeeded.

Shoot him in the face from a distance with a tranquilizer sniper... it knocked him out for me...

Actually, hang around his cabin for a while and he'll come out to take a walk, then you can CQC him, or simply shot him in the head from behind. That knocks him out cold instantly.

I did this optional objective in my first run through the mission without knowing it exists at all.

Pick Quiet as your buddy with her tranq sniper and let her cover you. Fulton up on a jeep (since you can't fulton kids yet) 3 by 3 kids. Once Quiet puts all 20 kids on the map to sleep, Eli will automatically be asleep on his throne in the ship.
Two optional objectives done without a sweat.

This means do the mission BEFORE main mission 45.

i had no issues with it, used tranq sniper from distance
