This game story takes place before mg1?

I have played mg1, mg2, mg3 and now im playing this one and im a bit confused because i have seen a character in the beginning that i think is psycho mantis young and eli as young liquid snake, but there is a cutscene when you contact doctor Emmerich and he asks "snake is that you?" or something like that...

actually the games you are reffering to are the MGS series, there is a series before that just called metal gear 1 and 2 that where on the nes/ msx that first introduced solid snake and him going to outer heaven and zanzibarland. MGS 3 is a prequel explaining how big boss ( snake or naked snake ) started. MGS V is suppose to lead up to metal gear 1 for nes/msx. But it doesn't MGS V was severely cut up because Konami is a douche bag. So it will more than likely be in MGS VI.

First off, it's Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear 1/2 are 2 different games.
And yes, TPP takes place before MG1/2 and MGS1/2/4.
