[Could be Spoilerish] When did Ocelot decide to get evil?
Hey,

so first I have to say I haven't finished the game yet. But, I am more and more wondering how, when and why Ocelot decided to be the bad guy. In MGS3 he seemed like a decent guy und now in MGS V he's friendliy and all. Today I extracted Eli (aka Liquid) and fought him again on the base.

Now comes the point where I'm confused. Eli was a big bugger as a child and later in MGS1 and following he's not only an ♥♥♥ but also the "evil" enemy. And Ocelot decided to join him even before he got his arm cut off and replaced it with Liquids. But why?

What happened to Ocelot that he joined the bad guys... If anyone can answer that, Big Thanks!

Ocelot just doesn't seem evil now because he's working for Big Boss, who you are playing as. He comes off as evil in the other ones because you aren't playing as Big Boss.

I would say Ocelot is the only real good guy in the entire series.

I don't know, his motivation made no sense to me either

You must read the last conversation in the credits of the game as others MGS, you will understand why.

I think he's never been the bad guy, he only used Cipher/The Patriots for his own agenda, which has never been the same as Zero nor Liquid. Solid Snake was being used by the Patriots when Ocelot was seemingly the bad guy and later on his mind had been taken over by Liquid.

Look, these guys didn't get pissed off because someone killed their second cousin on their mom's side all of a sudden. Things aren't black and white here.

But Big Boss wants the dream of The Boss to be true. And Revolver Ocelot in MGS 1 when he joined Liquid and got him to rebel don't follow the same dream, they are just more or less simple terrorists. And after that as Liquid Ocelot he seems to be just the bad guy.

Well he hypnotized himself to think he was Liquid

I dunno, if anything I would say Ocelot is the unsung hero of the entire Lore.

Liquid Ocelot come around because of Ocelot to trick the patriots but Ocelot is always good.

The theme is they all want to fulfill The Boss's will....but they all eventually lost the plot. That is the entire point of the entire saga.

Ocelot actually did some of he most good out of all the characters.

There's no bad guy , they just have different percepective and all of them got ptsd. For ocelot , he see big boss as the second coming and try to recreate his dream. Big boss and zero try to recreate the boss's dream but every single one of them dont agree on how/what it is.

Zero and Big Boss want to and Ocelot seems to look up to Big Boss and helps him out but Ocelot mostly is out to stop the patriots.

Ocelot is loyal to Big Boss? Sorry, I know ♥♥♥♥ all about the lore, but that'd explain a bit. I like how he's redone in this game, though.

I have to admit for me personally even with the events that happened in the Metal Gear games (Zanzibar and Outer Heaven) Big Boss always seemed to be the secret hero. Ocelot on the other hand just looked very mad and crazy in the Solid Snake games.
