Fulton Wormhole Shortcut
So, I just discovered that if you stand on a container when using the wormhole fulton to extract it, you actually get a prompt to piggyback back to base on it, allowing you to quit mission area quickly, and without the friggin money hole that is late game Helicopter support. Neat.

You do know you can just go to the menu and select "Return to ACC" and you are taken back to the helicopter base for free, right?

not quite as dramatic also its a nice quick way to leave a main mission area after completing the objective.

I'm actually not getting the prompt to hold on, wormhole and not. Any fix for this ? I've only tried in MB so far and it has NEVER given me this prompt

Jump on the container and place fulton somewhere in the middle of it's top by holding E.
Then hold E for the second time and you'll fulton up with the container.

...Are you seriously asking us why you're not getting that prompt while attempting to do this in your motherbase? Where do you expect to land? The MB again? Of course it doesn't work there...

FYI, if you find your heli to be very expensive, try use a lower grade heli. The higher grade (the faster the heli is) the more it costs.

I don't see why not. You can fulton everything in MB, there's no point at all.

I'll try this outside of MB and see

There's logic... and then there's logic. Don't hurt yourself.
Pitch Dark is quite easy once you fulton your way out of trouble, those Walker Gears are quite a pain in the ass from time to time.

don't be too hard on yourself, it was still a fun discovery for you, no? and you found it out yourself, rather than have to ask. its a double bonus imo.

Equip nothing on your heli and it'll cost 1000 points.

Decking out your chopper with expensive modifications really isn't necessary except the rare occasions you are planning to bring it into the thick of combat.

Well, the weapon upgrades and armor upgrades doesnt affect the price. Only the heli upgrade (arrive time) increase the cost.
