METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

For those wondering what camo to use...
We've all been there, you just do not know what to where because unlike the previous installments we have no idea what % camo we have. So, I will put it very simply...

DURING THE DAY:
Afghanistan: Desert Fox, Animal
Africa: Woodland, Olive, Golden Tiger, Wetlands (all depends on exact location but most balanced camo would be Olive, Golden Tiger. or Animal
If expecting confrontation: Battle Dress

DURING THE NIGHT:
Afghanistan: Sv Sneaking Suit
Africa: Sv Sneaking Suit.
If expecting confrontation: Sneaking Suit

NOTE: Sv Sneaking Suit is only aquirable from a uploaded Ground Zeroes Save and is recommended due to low deployment costs.

I wish I found it worth using the camos because they look nice but quiet sneaking is just so much more valuable to me.

Desert fox really?
Afghan is not really fully desert.
Tiger Stripe works damn well

Yes, I assume you are also using KB/M?
I used keyboard up until [CHAPTER 2 SPOILER] Subistance, Extreme and Total Stealth levels where you either could not bring sneaking suit or it just wasn't cutting it in terms of 'invisibility'. This is where the problem arises...

Holding 'CTRL' on KB is so damn slow it is because of this I now play with controller which enables me to have a better camo and just move a bit slower when infiltrating. Footstep dampening is overrated really, you should try without, you will notice you can get closer to the enemy without being seen.

Fair enough. I literally just made chapter 2 so maybe I'll have to change. But I've been planning my routes around going behind enemies mixed with sniping so they don't get a chance to see me, camo or not.

Ah, that may be where were different.
I almost go exclusively cqc and try to avoid the enemy as much as possible, luring them to a quiet place then grabbing them...

sneaking suit is kinda the default for single player stealth play style since you can walk near an enemy without him hearing your footsteps. All other outfit have foot steps and you will go into bullet time when you approach from behind at normal speed.

Turn off reflex and rush them before they say "Contact" or move minutley slower. I used to think sneaking suit was unbeatable but trust me when I say uniforms are better.

Cheaper, more comfortable-looking, customisable (although barely) and better for hiding.

I always just wear sneaking suit and they don't even see me during the daytime 60m away.

Sneaking suit for stealth, Combat armor for loud.
Everything else is obsolete.

Why? Sneaking suit erases your sound when walking, which is a lot more useful than blending in with stuff, because if you can blend in with tiger stripes or desert fox, you can also blend in with sneaking suit, the camo index only works at longer distances, and at long distances only snipers may "notice" you with sneaking suit, if they do you just lay down and you're practically invisible at everything that isn't like 5 meter away from you.

Although this isn't 100% true, you are right.
I still rather have higher index and just slow down a tad bit when I reach four meters from the enemy, but that's just me. If I were using KB I would definitely go with the Sneaking Suit.

but your equipment also matters i noticed.
i have the sneaking suit maxed,
for a few side ops involving helicopters where the only option is rocket launcher,
it made a considerable amount of noice while i was sneaking,
and one of them noticed from 15m away with his back turned.
so it is may not be an absolute,
even the shield makes a banging sound while on your back.
