What is proficiency?
It keeps saying it has increased, sometimes saying significantly. What does it mean?

It means how proficient somebody is at something. Or how good somebody is at a certain task.

So my staff get better? but how do I know how much better they became? Is there a number or something? or does their grades get better?

Their grade gets better.

their stats gets better, you will see a yellow bar on top of their current stats

Not sure on that one mate, I'm only 26 hours in. Try googling it or check on YouTube. Even the game manual should help. It's usually amongst all the files somewhere in your steam directory.
