Grenade throwing bug with mouse
I'm not sure if anyone else is getting this, but recently (never seemed to be a problem early on in the game) I could always switch between underhand/overhand throws with no issue. However as of late Snake constantly tosses overhand no matter how quickly I tap the mouse, causing me trouble especially if I miss with stun or smoke grenades or if it hits a door frame etc.

Controller seems to work just fine, though I'd rather not use it for aiming since I'm more used to aiming with a mouse. Anyone know of a fix or possible solution?

Yeah I can't consistently throw anything with a pin as a lob. I can toss magazines and decoys with ease but the nades all throw 90% of the time. I think it has to do with pressure sensitive buttons being mapped to a keyboard. They have to make it a tap and a hold to fix this issue.

For now just use the throw and aim that way, yes you lose some angles but it's the only way to guarantee consistency.

Also nice Rikimaru, I hate how nobody knows that series exists.

I suppose I'll make do with overhand, and yea I miss the ol Tenchu's.

I have found that if you hold right click to aim, then while HOLDING DOWN left click, aim again it will go wherever you aim while holding left click. If you just aim while holding right click, even a small click seems to result in a giant overhand throw. But if you aim while it's primed with the left mouse button, it seems to work fine.

I have this same problem with my grenade throwing. It switches from underhand to overhand whenever I throw a grenade.

I tried doing this, but it didn't seem to work for me. Maybe I was doing something wrong.

All this does is automatically make me go into an overhand stance.

Same problem here :
First hours of games (about 30 hours), I had no problem with the grenades. I could throw them away or close by to a short click.

But for several hours, it is impossible for me to throw a grenade with a short click. (I am now 80 hours of play).
Sometimes I get to throw a grenade with a short click, by switching the view to the first person.

Same issue here, and my google search for finding a solution sent me here :P Nice to know it's a bug at least, so I know it's not me being an idiot.

There is no bug. Just awkward port.

I've replied a few times already.

1. Hold right mouse.
2. Now hold left mouse (means hold both buttons).
3. Aim.
4. Release leftmouse.

Do not ask me what were devs thinking. Probably they've never seen a PC mouse in their life otherwise menus and crafting wouldn't be so clunky.

the mouse button has turbo applied for some reason. its really annoying when trying to shoot things with pistols.

basically the game thinks you have held the button even though you just clicked.

joxertm22, you can stop replying then since 1. I saw your reply and that's not the issue, and 2. that's not a solution anyway, but a workaround - one that i've been using for 60 hours already. Throwing grenades works differently from throwing a gun magazine and *it's a bug*. Clicking the mouse button throws it overhand, exactly as how it does when holding it down and then releasing it, but if you click with a magazine, Snake does a lowerhand throw.

Just replied to another thread about this.

Am experiencing the same issue.

Perfect implementation with the magazine.

Almost every single click with grenade results in an overhanded lob.

I've been experimenting with it, holding down odd combinations (though I haven't tried Josertm22's, though reading Gordam's it might not work for me either.), but not luck so far.

Short of sacrificing a chicken to Hideo each time I try, I'm out of ideas.

I have this same problem, and while yes, I can just hold down the LMB to aim the overhand lob, it IS supposed to work that a tap does a soft toss. Overhand doesn't always let you aim where you need to, and the increased time spent positioning can lead to getting spotted... and anyway it should WORK. Gonna see if this has been reported in the bug area yet.

it has and on the last page.

I'm answering the original reporter with a quote and linking to here so we can keep on discussing said bug or sharing work arounds should any pop up in our poking around and hilarious attempts to throw grenades like a normal person.

someone on Reddit had the solution, apparently, we were clicking TOO FAST for an underhanded throw. you have to hold it for a split second then let go to throw underhanded.

Holding the "walk" button while throwing works in some instances - it's pretty random.
