I was trying to boobytrap a vehicle with a sleep mine and it kept going off, the stupid vehicle was setting off the mine for some dumb reason, gas mask would of been nice for this i got caught aswell -.-
This game needs better improvised traps :(
Battle Dress uniform makes you Immune to Tranq darts.
NVG makes you immune to Smoke.
PB Shield makes you immune to damage.
Noctocyantin pin-points biological signals.
And honestly - considering how powerful Sleeping Gas is in this game when coupled with the fact that it has No counter at all... i don't think a gas-mask would be over powered at all...
Besides if it does make it in there, cheaters will have something to save them from sleep grenades and sleep grenade launchers. Making it a whole lot difficult.
So in the end, we are in a tough spot.
That is the worst kind of argument. You don't balance everything around hackers, you balance it around the actual players.
Pretty much everything else has a counter in the game, just not sleeping gas (and smoke in the case of choking). Stun grenades don't have a "proper" counter, but hiding in a cardboard box makes them immune or near-immune aswell.
One way of implementing and balancing gas masks would be to give the player an item like the NVG, which can be equipped at any time but can't be used in combination with NVGs/Cardboard boxes and runs on filters, those filters would be used up passively but also increase in usage by running/inhaling smoke and being used up rapidly by sleep gas. And since it runs on filters, they wouldn't have an infinite amount. And for the love of god, give D-Dog a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gas mask.
Besides this is a con we will get if we add gasmask/allow them in FOBs.
We don't have helmets for a reason, we don't have security guns for a reason. Either they ran out of time or they didn't thin they would be balanced. I like the current state of FOB missions.
Grenades Aren't used that much, but its not to say the least that it can impair your vision. And Since combat status causes enemys to know where you are no matter where the sound came from...
Battle Dress + Gas Mas basically makes you fully counter a non-lethal defense force. The only thing that can stop you is a headshot.
And who says that Battle Dress should even get Gas Mask?
quiet literally the model for a re-breather is already in the game which could be used by the player (and is even seen on snake during the quarantine mission, and on NPCs during FOB when fighting NL platforms) for the NPCs, this headgear is only combined with the Sneaking suit...
And why would it be a full counter?
Even Gasmask soldiers in the field are not perfectly immune to sleep gas - it just takes them twice as long to be effected by it... which can possibly be enough to run out of the gas cloud. The only thing it completely removes is the effect of 'smoke' and 'dust' on the NPC...
from the players perspective - the gas-mask could remove the 'flinching' that occurs when you enter smoke or high winds.
