Did people really not figure it out right at the start? (spoilers)

So first off, I don't own the game currently, but since I was interested I watched some gameplay of the first bit, and some just random non-story missions, but I have seen the intro cutscene.

And then while reading around some stuff/on image boards I heard people saying something that I had picked up on at the beginning, only for people to respond saying that they spoiled it?

So what I'm talking about is the fact that you are not actually big boss, but a different character. And I had just assumed this to be the case from after the first cutscene, mainly because you go through and create what the actual big boss's disguise will be, and then a charcter who has full facial bandages, leads you around way better than any normal civilian in a hospital would be able to. Although there isn't much evidence it's still pretty easy to guess, it was still what made the most sense to me when I played it.

That and also they wouldn't just forget the massive shard of metal in that trailer where it shows big boss going into a coma, which makes it all the more obvious if you watch that trailer and then see the first cutscene.

Edit: Also forgot to mention that I could be completely wrong and that guy was just saying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, since I haven't actually seen any reveal with my own eyes.

I did because the bandaged man behaves like a total boss during the intro whereas you like a total noob. That was enough to make it clear.

I kinda figured it out because of the whole creating an avatar for seemingly no reason and the guy who helps you has the same voice. Plus he just acts like you'd imagine Big Boss would while your character is basicly saved by him... Also, dat ass.

at first i was on the halucination train then i heard something it made me strangely attached to it. Doc says yes nice you scars healed good while checking his face. Remotely speaking i heard the same thing from my mom's plastic surgeon few years ago made me wonder if they gave him a facial surgery before he woke up. Then Ishmael guy was gone in a blink left another question mark. My suspicions continued untill the last scene with Paz, cause our chaaracter was spefically remembering a complicated human anatomy stuff out of nowhere.( I mean he actually remembered how he operated on Paz actually). Then whole Viper Snake story started to fly around again so yeah that's pretty much it

It was pretty obvious imho. Not just because of his behaviour and the character creation stuff and whatnot, but because it was also Sutherland voicing the bandage head guy lol.

True, but I understand that a lot of people don't really know about VA's, and it could have just been random.

I don't understand this, you do look like big boss (naked snake = big boss). I assume that big boss is ishmael, since you choose what he will look like after the plastic surgery, and ishmael has full facial bandages afterwards. It would make no sense to disguise someone who isn't big boss to not look like big boss, and then leave big boss looking like big boss, unless you know that your enemies know that you are going to do plastic surgery on big boss.

That was one hell of a paragraph.
