Man, your comment alone makes me want to cry. It makes me sad to hear that.
It's not the meta part of the game, even though MGS1 had meta-narratives like phychomantis one of the most memroable bosses of the franchise.
MGS3 had it's moments as well with The End bieing of old age if you just turned the game off and waited a week.
There is more then just that, it's not just outside the box thinking but seeing the game from teh players view and thinking WHAT WOULD THEY ENJOY.
for some reason people thought we'd enjoy the hell out of helicopter rides cirlcing motherbase for hours on end, and showering. because gamers love to shower OCD and playing facebook-farm-game-style multiplayer. without any aknowledgment to any of the previous metal gears games and ignoring anything that should have been.
