Why are they always suspicious of the cardboard box?

In almost any circumstance they're suspicious of the cardboard box, regardless whether they have any reason to be. I don't get it. I'll be in a cardboard box while among a bunch of other boxes and even without ever being alerted to my presence they'll zero in on the cardboard box and start shooting it.

I'm not sure what practical application the cardboard box is suppose to serve outside of a method of fast travel.

They are useful on FOBs, if you do it fast enough, and it doesn't have to be fast at all, you will always avoid a UAV and camera even after they've gotten suspicious.

I think you have to BE IN the box before your in their field of vision. If you pop in it when they're already looking your way, they'll come investigate. If you moved and dont have the right camo type or are too close, thell also come over.

Think he was refering to ingame.. I did not ever use the box much.. so probably not the best judge. When I did I did not seem to have a problem. But I mean really its a card board box.
and they probably already know all the boxes in that heap so a new one is something of a curiosity.. ;-) its just a tool not like it makes you invisible. maybe you had the wrong box for the situation. Put a pretty girl on it. speaking of which they cover up the model laying down with the sides of the box its all flowers now thats really dumb.

I was. I entered a building with no one noticing and disguised myself with a box while sitting among a bunch of other boxes. Then some guy drove up from another camp and entered the building and immediately started shooting the box. I remember it being much more effective in previous games. Even in Metal Gear Rising it was more effective.

If they are real close ya they notice its a middle distance thing I think.

Try changing your stance while inside the box.

laying down helps the box is funny though

In my experience they are not automatically suspicious of it, provided you're in it already before they see it and you sneak carefully with it.

I did use a box once in the FOB and guard was like "CP CP i saw a cardboard box moving how do i procede?" answer from CP: " oh knock it off..." soldier: "but.. the cardboard...." and returns to his patrol like nothing happens XD
