METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

What's With the Supernatural Stuff?
This is my first Metal Gear game, and I always thought they were pretty realistic with a tad of sci-fi and stuff (Raiden, Metal Gears, etc.), but what's with the flaming guy and the girl with the gas mask in the prologue? And the soldiers that are super quick and have mind control and stuff towards the beginning and the end of mission 6 (where I'm at.) Are these just Boss's hallucinations or is it actually supernatural? No spoilers please, if it's not possible to explain without them don't answer please.

'girl with the gas mask'

my sides are in orbit/10
i guess you would be excused for thinking metal gear is realistic since its your first MG game but if you research gameplay of the previous games you'll realize kojima never cared for realism in metal gear. it's a fun tactical game with stealth implemented.. but there is also ghost.. minigames where you find and shoot sesame street characters.. also.. in snake eater, there was an entire battle (in snakes head) against a dead spirit that was part of his mentors team. during that fight you run across all the guards and bosses you previously killed and you have to dodge their lost souls or they kill you. So yeah. Game has never been about realism
You will find out soon enough. Patience.:AngrySword:

Well, in Haxerz' defense, I actually thought it looked like a girl too, but it does refer to that person as a boy if you know where to look/listen.

As for the supernatural stuff though, you must be very out of the loop with MGS canon, because it's chalk full of it. Playing Ground Zeroes gives you a wee bit of insight on the Skulls, but I prefer to learn about Man on Fire as the story goes.

You have to leave SOME surprises after all. But no, MG has never been mostly about just realistic tactical combat. If anything it's a very sci fi alternate reality story with bits of real life agencies mixed in.

You have to understand that Kojima writes like a kid in a candy store in love with western hemisphere movies and culture in general, so his style is very over the top.

I mean, be honest, when you saw the trailers showing Snake extract things like, ship containers, 2 tons trucks, and tanks with a small balloon, did you REALLY think it was going to be mostly realistic?

I'm terribly sorry I couldn't remember her name, especially since she's in the game for a total of about 2 minutes so far. The Third Child is it, correct?

I didn't really want to look up gameplay because I plan on going back and playing the HD collection, but thanks for the help. :)

The Metal Gear games aren't realistic at all, really. This one tones down the supernatural the most, even moreso than MGS4.

No prob. also the other guy replying to you is partially trolling you. I prefer the straightforward approach. less trolly but people tend to get offended faster. luckily not in this case i think. The third child is a guy, not a gal. that kid flaoting around is a future boss in the older games

The only way I can really explain it is that it's "tradition". Back when Metal Gear first got its start, video game bosses were very, well... video-gamey. The best ones always had a quirk, like fire breath, eye lasers, etc. Metal Gear has always stayed true to that.
Nanomachines, son.

that gasmask girl is not she, can be he
and she works on McDonald I guess,
if you turn the speaker really loud,
you will hear she said:McDonald's delivery! when she shows up.

as the Fireman, that's Nicolas Cage, Ocelot steal his bike, and give it to big boss
so, he has to ride his horse
again, if you turn speaker loud enough, you will hear: give me back my bike!

I won't tell you that Mazinger Z thing, I know you will ask later,
you can find prove later from your rocket arm
