(SPOILERS) Venom Snake is more badass than...

...Big Boss. Solid Snake managed to defeat Venom only with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rocket launcher! And this badass was able to withstand multiple rockets to the face before he went down. Big Boss was defeated by a silly lighter+hairspray combo.

This game is totally canon! Big boss gets domed in GZ and gets put into the hospital with your avatar. Your avatar then goes under plastic surgery to make him look like big boss (he gets turned into venom snake). The real big boss escapes and becomes 'the man who sold the world' while venom snake becomes the villain in the original metal gear games until he is defeated. HE is the corpse that is kept alive in MGS4. The man who sold the world (aka the REAL big boss) comes back at the end of MGS4 to die, closing the story. The story and ending were really confusing but a few days of reflecting on the entire saga led me to this and it makes complete sense.

Big Boss has two arms, Venom has one.

Venom also suffers from PTSD, hallucinations, and having a giant shard of metal in his head.

Venom threw himself in harm's way to protect his Boss. Big Boss killed his Boss.

I guess Big Boss gets a pass for saving the world so many times in MGS3 and PW but every time he was used by his commanders. The victories were hollow, this lead to his downfall.

Venom is used by his commander as well, yet he apparently accepts that fact and even has a sense of humor about it.

I always got the feeling the ending showed him "shattering the illusion" and walking towards his fate w acceptance. Big Boss was always angsty about one thing or another, usually The Boss.

Venom has the chance to be the legend Big Boss WISHES he could be. It's either a blessing or a curse, depending on how you look at it.

Not quite. The corpse is Solidus Snake's - third Big Boss clone and the MGS2 boss. Venom's corpse - well probably nobody cared about it since it was of no interest genetically. Most likely it was blown up to shreds with the Outer Heaven.

Big Boss would be nothing without Venom. He'd be no better than the the rotting remains of Morpho somewhere in the Carribean. I wouldn't compare either of them, one isn't better than the other. Rather, they are a collective being. On their own, and together, a man and his phantom. They make up the legend we know as Big Boss. They'd be nothing without the other.
