METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

I'm getting tired of seeing the same places.
After putting 60 hours into the game I'm sick of having to keep returning to the same places and do (mostly) the same thing. They reused the same areas way to much and I don't understand why they would do that. Not only that but I just find both maps to be plain boring. There's not much to see and most of the bases are too small for my liking. I wish they would have went with open levels instead with some sort of a large hub area. As much as I've enjoyed the game, I find it to be a chore just to play it now. Maybe I've been playing through it too slowly, but I'm only on mission 21. I feel like it's going to take forever to finish. Am I alone in feeling this way?

I kinda agree with you. The lack of activity in these worlds are very minimilistic, as no conflict with npcs are shown and the lack of fellow allies makes the game very lonley. But you should keep playing until you hit chapter 2, then i reccomend just watching the important story missions.

Oh no, tha game is getting repetitive after 60 hours. ヽ(゚Д゚)ノ
Only mission 21?! You got more hours than me and I'm 5 missions off finishing the game.

People tend to play at different paces. I spent about 100 hours into the game before actually finishing it.

When pounding side ops out it can certainly feel that way. I thought they did a pretty good job of not overlapping the main missions with one another and, when they did, the focus was usually on different parts of those areas making each mission distinct.

For example mission 5 is JUST Wakh Sind. Only one other (main) mission MAY have a mission critical objective there. A few have side objectives or specialists there but those are mostly optional or are not the focus of that mission at all unless you want to unlock that specific thing.

270 hours in, I don't wanna go back to the repetitive real life.

I think the level/location designs are so good that going back to the same places doesn't really phase me. It does get a bit repetitive, but Phantom Pain is a really long and huge game. I'm sure they had to sacrifice map size to give us all the content and story they have given us. And I actually enjoy going back to certain locations, not only because most of them are fun, but you don't have to spend more time on a mission just trying to familiarize yourself with where things are and how to get to certain areas. Anyway, I think it isn't that bad for a game like this. All games are going to be repetitive in some way or another when you play it for hours on end.

What I can't stand, however, is having Ocelot or Paz force you back to Mother Base after every single mission during some parts of the story, driving your GMP bills through the roof with deployment costs lol.

Just use the default chopper, don't use the upgrade for faster deployment and you save a TON of GMP. Unless you're constantly calling in your chopper to use as backup, you don't need to equip the extra flares, armor and other upgrades. End-game my chopper deployment cost was 6k GMP just because I customized it for max cheapness with slight firepower.

60 hours....that's cute.

I have almost 200 and I only have 72% completion.

I kinda agree with the amount of things to do just being all boring, I mean during the game you get told about the Rebel faction fighting the russians... yet where is this? Why can we not see any of these fighting taking place and using it as a advanage to sneak into the enemy base to kill/capture their commander to help the rebel force. Why no assisting the Rebels up front by helping them stage a raid on supply's or supply convoy? Why do we just get stupid pointless "Side missions" Loading up and go.. The world is not active at all... it's Scripted. It's just Go kill/capture/secure/destroy with major rinse and repeat. THERE NO FUN IN IT! Sure it's fun at first but it gets old... fast!

I think we're at about the same point and have the same approach to doing side missions. I'm 68 hours and on Mission 25.

I have to agree to be honest. I'm getting a bit tired of watching Snake get ready to depart the chopper. - I think to reignite my interest a bit I'm going to push the main story more and leave the side ops + swap about the buddies and playstyle. - Might help you too?

Be there done that, does not change the way the mission work's. You play style may change, however it does not change the AI's action. just their equipment.

to be honest...if it takes 60 hours to start feeling repetition in the areas of a stealth game....it did ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ great.
Revos Kalosa Nov 3, 2015 @ 7:38pm
True, however thats when you played through it twice. the third time.... it loses the grace when you find the gaps in it.

Alot of things that could of made this game great, was just not made in time due to Konami not wanting to waste any more money.
