Need help with MGSV Bionic Arm upgrade.

I haven't had any problems upgrading the Bionic Arm, or anything else for that matter, until I got to the Medical upgrade.

Here's the problem, the only prerequisite left is the Medical Arm grade 1, but there is no such thing showing in the Grade 1 slot.

The upgrade in the Grade 2 slot says Medical 1, with a grade 2 star insignia showing on it, and when I click on it to upgrade, it says Medical Grade 1 required.

From what I've read, this is considered a passive upgrade, meaning it only buffs your health regen, and has no separate function.

Do I need to equip the standard Bionic Arm for the Medical upgrade to be usable? I've been switching between Stun and Rocket Arm.

I was hoping since this is a passive upgrade, I could piggy back it onto other upgrades, like Precision and Sonic do.

I didn't "edit" (crop?) anything relevant. Everything you need to see is there.

I responded. You don't have the grade 1 upgrade in the top left. Look at the lines connecting all those passives and follow it back up to the top left.

OP, have you even made sure your cybernetics specialist is in your R&D team and not the waiting room/brig etc?

He has it. Medical 1 is ready to be developed but he needs the grade 1 upgrade requirement. Which is the rank1 stun arm at the top left.

But it's asking for the grade 1 requirement. That is the grade 1 requirement. He isn't showing it screen shots. Has he has everything else.

Ok i oppologize if I offended you it was not my intention but i can understand your frustration. I looked at your screen shot. Actually I see nothing wrong with it. It says you can develope the medical 1 in the #2 spot in the grid is all Medical 2 is locked because you need to develope medical one first as it shows it has not been developed, hence the wrench. That is what I see. Now if you click on it medical one you should be able to develope it . if you did not have the required stuff there would not be a wrench I beleive. So if there is a problem from that stand point there is obviously something wrong with your developement grid.. maybe run verify intergety of game file and last send a support ticket. I personaly never ran into any trouble in the developement part of the game except for keeping specialist. Not sure this helps. I just do not see a problem.

Looking at the other screen shots your just saying when you click on it to develope it doesn't say ok? would be a game problem.

I managed to do it, but still baffled. First off, Tarman, you're plain wrong.

I thought it may have been that I had Rocket Arm equipped, so I went back to Mother Base, since I needed a shower anyway, and equipped the base Bionic Arm in upper left Tarman was referring to, which of course was already developed. Hell, I don't think you can even develop Stun or other basic arm upgrades unless you have that one.

So the supply drop comes down, I equip it, and suddenly it lets me upgrade Med 1. Mind you what I equipped was NOT Med 1 like it was asking for, and it was already developed.

So I thought this is either because I went to Mother Base, or had Rocket Arm equipped, because all criteria for Med 1 were met (Cybernetics specialist, necessary resources, etc).

I ruled out Mother Base, because I do most of my upgrades on the chopper no problem, plus you can't even customize unless you're on the chopper.

Now I can see having to equip a different arm type first if say Rocket Arm doesn't allow piggy backs, but even then, you should still be able to develop it, just not equip it.

So finally I go to ACC, start a side mission, and test the arm configuration. Sure enough it allows me to equip Rocket Arm, while showing piggy backed onto it Sonar 3, Stun 3, Precision 3, AND Medical 3, which I now have.

So basically this makes no sense.

1. If you're required to have the basic Bionic Arm equipped just to develop the Medical 1 arm, it should say THAT instead of grade 1 required, esp if you're only developing and not equipping it

2. None of the other arm upgrades said grade 1 required when attempting to develop the lowest tier arm of that type when all development criteria were met

3. I suspect having the the base arm equipped really isn't a requirement, and this instead is a glitch in the upgrade menu with this one particular arm type.

Anyway, most here don't seem to get what's been explained and that what happened makes no sense, EG is not consistent with other arm upgrades I've done.

I love this game, but on PC, tutorials, even basic control scheme descriptions, are not exactly it's strong point. I can forgive it though, because mostly it;s an awesome game.

Thanks to all for responding, even if arguments ensued, because I know the initial intent is to help, even if it starts sounding otherwise at times in some cases.

Tarman, I assure you I'm not trolling,. I would think just the fact that I made it clear it was laborious to have to take screenshots to SHOW everyone the problem that I really didn't want it to get drawn out. I sincerely hope the explanation in this post and some of the possible bug or file corruption suggestions has enlightened you so as not to jump to such conclusions for no reason.

Problem solved, case closed, but the cause, still a baffling mystery.

Because you wasn't showing me all the information and I was just going through all the possibilities that it could be if it wasn't just bugged.

He was trying to help you, like you asked. You can't help without asking for relevant information. You've been in the situation, he has not. People that try to help don't magically have an answer. Why do you think costumer support often repeats the same questions? It's to make sure they understand what you haven't or haven't done and ask for clarification for that reason.

You're just being extremely arrogant at this point. Human error is generally the biggest reason as to why something isn't working. Even if it wasn't in this case, it's not wrong for people to assume it is at first.

Ironically enough i figured it out. right after i read this lovely post of totally solving the issue.
Mission 9 Back up back down has a 2ndary objective to extract 6 prisoners.
The Female prisoner that is held in Wahk sindh barraks is the bionic specialist required to develop level 1 thats why late game i was also confused cause that mission was quite tedious i never completed the 2ndary objectives.
