Smoke no longer effective vs snipers?
Just failed an FOB by getting spotted through smoke by snipers on the base development platform, going to have to change some of my inf patterns if this is a permanent addition

Hmm, it was definitely working before aslong as i was stealth suited

Those are different things.

Smoke works with NPCs not wearing NVG;
Smoke does not work with NPCs wearing NVG;

Sneaking suit (and other similiar ones) negates the NVG;

I'm not sure how those add up when combined.

As i say, previously my approach was to smoke the top of the walkway in a stealth suit and waltz into the core, last two infiltrations that has not worked. Hence my thinking something has changed, will be doing more testing

Guards have always been able to see through smoke if they are equpped with NVG so throwing down a smoke and allowing gurads to see it is dangerous. They can still see you through it and the odd sniper will be taking aim with their rifle.

You know some guards when spotting something of interest will have their weapon aimed, they can take aim and shoot before you get the chance to respond.

Okay, current theory:

During the day time with stealth suit you used to be definitely not visible to snipers through smoke. Weirdly this didnt work at night. I suspect theyve made it consistent across day/night. Means Im going to have to come up with atleast two new strats for infiltrations

No, smoke grenades are my best friends! It's amazing how they hypnotise guards - I usually throw one as a distraction on the first platform. One will call it in, others will wander around on alert, but once they see the big cloud, they're transfixed. Smoke might not conceal you from snipers, but if you can use it to make a sniper focus on a different area, you can pretty much crawl right in front of them without being noticed.

Guards fov seems to have increased, I'm getting spotted at twice the distance I was previously.

FFS I was hoping Konami would tone down this ♥♥♥♥ not make it worse. :berserk:

Smoke still works for me on the support platform. XD

Not that type of smoke usage tarman, guards will still be stunned by it (lethal guards) but i used to be able to be in a smoke cloud with stealth suit and not be spotted by snipers outside the smoke. That seems to have been changed

Nothing has changed for me after the patch. I can crouch walk near enemies just like before (square camo + daylight).
