METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

SMX87 FOB Invasion, No Notification
I just got invaded by SMX87.

You probably have too. However, that is not the purpose of this thread.

I was online at the time, and the game didn't even warn me I was being invaded. My level is high enough to get the notice from the very beginning that the guards should "defend their position," and hence alert me. Also, the invasion was excellently done, about what you'd expect from world number 1, but it wasn't perfect, with guards being aware someone was there, so I should have definately been told.

I don't understand the randomness, sometimes telling me, sometimes not. Or was he just so quick the game didn't even bother?

Anybody have an answer?

It takes some time and he can do FOBs under 3 minutes so even if you recieved the message, you wouldn't have enough time to click through all the menus.
Answer.
1. Rally People
2. All Raid his base within 1 day repetitively
3. KILL/Kidnap his people
4. Keep Killing and Kidnapping his people
5. His resource
6. Make him lose everything
7. Profit.
Sure. The answer is that you don't correctly understand what tips off Defenders.

Them moving to a heightened security level by itself won't alert Defenders. They have to either trigger a fully alert or start destroying/fultoning things.

Unless you have a nuke, then you can get alerted right away even if they No Trace it.

Absoultely not true.

Many can testify to having done nothing whatsoever, not even move from the wormhole, only to have the defender arrive, and this on a non-nuke base.

But the alert, "All units defend your position" (which comes from a combo of troop rank/level rank) seems notification enough to alert the defender.

Besides, as I said, the run wasn't a complete ghost:

It was still brilliantly done, SMX87 is very addaptable and versatile it seems, but issue of being too quick to notify me aside, I'm wondering why the game didn't bother saying anything.
You have second hand reports from people who say they got Defenders for no reason, nothing more. Show me a video that proves differently. Also keep in mind if someone is doing training visits to FOBs Defenders get notified right away, unlike normal invasions.

The "All units defend your position" does not mean Defenders have been notified. And it will not randomly start up mid way through an invasion to indicate they have been notified. It always starts from the moment you touch down at the FOB, and is likely just to inform invaders that Defenders are online and will be notified should they mess up.

I didn't say you had to No Traces to avoid Defenders, I said you had to fully trigger an alert (alarm blaring, staff shooting at invader) or start destroying/fultoning things. Triggering an IR-Sensor just makes someone go investigate the area. Similarly knocking out guards or doing anything else that puts the guards into heightened security mode is not enough to get a Defender. You gotta go a step beyond that (or just start destroying/stealing).

You realize some of the top people broadcast regularly right? You can watch Sexy do invasions like 15 hours a day and rustark too. So it's easy to see these things in action and narrow down what does or doesn't trigger Defenders.
Pretty sure the special alerts do not alert the player they just put the gaurds in alert mode. I have never seen a player show up from a special alert.

I have had defenders arrive on me several times during non-training while doing nothing but crawling on platform 1 not merely "second hand reports," and I'm not showing you a video of anything either: I personally don't have one for reference and don't know any I've seen that act as specifi example of what I just mentioned.

The alert CP sends to troops only occurs on higher level bases (A++ troops? Unconfirmed) and while that in itself is not enough to tip off the defender, it is not neutral. Subsequent actions: destroying UAVs, alarm thefts, guards calling in unconcious/dead guards, add to the notifcation of a defender, but the extents to which this happens are altogether vauge and unconfirmed.

At any rate, you'd think the IR gate should be enough to warn somebody. Those things don't cost 5mil and hav requirements of 90+ lvl base just to act as snazzy ornaments....Even if most people simply climb the rail and shimmy around them. Shm.

thats what ive wondered. i presumed the 'all units, special alert, man your positions' was an indication that fob security setting is set on high priority. but ive been told its the defender alert notification.
If it was a support platform I probably ghosted it in under 4 mins, If you check the security log you'll see I ghosted it all the way to the core deck were I then perhaps neutralized some guards, as long as there is no intruder detected via guard detection, ir sensors, cameras, uavs or anti theft devices you won't receive an intruder alert, also I don't usually use the fulton, kill or destroy equipment or do anything which would alert a defender unless I screw up of course.

Originally special alert seemed to indicate that an intruder had been seen by guards there by setting off a timer which would eventually lead to an intruder alert. I tested this with Wampirel88, 3.30 mins after being seen the specail alert went off and 1 min later an intruder alert was sent to Wampirel88 but since the November patch it doesn't seem to work this way. It seems to be just an alert status that sets a certain number of guards into a higher alert status every time it is sent out and changes which of those guards as well.
I also thought neautralizing guards would send an alert to a defender but as long as the neautralized guard remains undetected no alert will be sent as I've seen guys go through all my decks putting guards down along the way and taking 7-8 minutes to do so without me being alerted and this all done while I'm sitting idling in the acc.

Woudln't make a difference to how I play and I don't have enough S++ soldiers to make it profitable, you would earn more soldiers/resources and espionage points by grinding FOBs the way me and Sexy. Alos tehre is blockades and it would be inpossible to take everything.
ive notice that too, when the 'all units special alert' goes out some guards tense up as if the whole platform is on a soft alert. but i havent seen a defender come from just that

if they report to cp "something strange is going on" or one of those commands then they all go on soft alert as well as the message the whole platform is on alert. i then get a defender coming (potentially)

Yes this was nice, it happens sometimes but not very often btu I did two of these runs today were I screwed the run up at the start and hit the ir sensor, personally I think you should have received an alert for this. It sends the guards into alert status which should alert you but from what I've seen adn understand from the mechanics you won't immediately receive an intruder alert, it may be possible that their is a timer which is activated after a detection like this.
its the worse thing when cp calls in a special alert and some of the sniper rifle armed guards go on soft alert
The only time I get an intruder alert and find that the invader is still on the wormhole deck is when they destroyed equipment or used a fulton otherwise from waht I've seen from the logs they can be detected on the wormhole deck and I get the intruder alert when they reach the last last two decks.
