The Sorrow
Is it credible to assume that the true hero in the whole saga since Snake Eater to Guns of the Patriots... would be The Sorrow (Ex-Psychic Member of Boss' Cobra Squad).

Considering he tests Naked Snake and continues to watch over Jack and inevitably all the way to David in 2014.

He does?
I don't remember him ever showing again after operation Snake Eater

he appears as a phantom here and there
momentarily appearing to haunt and vanish...
The last confirmed scene with him was MGSIV: Guns of Patriots
when Psycho Mantis make an appearance
at the last part; Sorrow appeared and Psycho Mantis perish ultimately.

I will have to watch that again

Also he's Ocelot's father. Ocelot would probably be my vote for the true hero of the series, but yeah they both share in that. That whole family line is arguably the better one of the two "families". Though I've always felt like The Boss ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up in the Virtuous Mission, she shouldn't have let Volgin fire those nukes.

OK, hold it right there.

How was The Boss to blame? She was following her orders: give the nuke to Volgin.
Whoever had the brillant idea to give those nukes to him in the first place is the one who ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.

Besides, the whole virtuous mission was staged just to make sure Snake saw The Boss "defect"

True true
but lets not forget this

The Sorrow is Ocelot's father.
The Sorrow died long before the Virtuous Mission started, and he was perhaps the only ghost character throughout most of the series until Psycho Mantis' return

but soon as Psycho Mantis make his return, The Sorrow came out of nowhere and banish Psycho Mantis..
and you hear his words "The Spirit of the warrior will always be with you" the same line he gave to The Boss before she shot him through the eye.

And lets not forget the number one rule about everything
Ghost Pokemon is super effective to Psychic Pokemon

So.. The Sorrow is super effective against Psycho Mantis
that and lets not forget he can pull people to the afterlife and summon those whom they killed. which can torment his victims... and being omnipotent in his realm aswell.

the pokemon line is a joke.
but the rest are all canon.

so its not trolling
its just hiding a hint of rumor in an otherwise half-serious topic

But how does that relate to anything of what I said? :/

I think if you're trying to single out a single character in the series as "the hero" you really don't understand the series.

Usually I would be the first one to jump and say that, but please, take this discussion more light heartedly

Solid Snake is the hero. he is the rookie who wasn't supposed to make it. they spent all their efforts trying to make the perfect soldier, again and again, yet the imperfect clone was ultimately the hero of the series.

i think of it like Star Wars. Big Boss is Darth Vader. Solid Snake is Luke Skywalker.

I would usually, but talking about TPP has proven frustrating, it just seems to me that nobody wanted the game to change and that's the basis for most of the criticism.

Everytime I hear someone say "it's a great game but not a good metal gear game" i want to punch something, possibly them
