help! - R6025 - pure virtual function call error - tried all the fixes!!! still wont run!!

I've read through all the discussion and am at a loss of what to do

The game used to work fine but recently has started not loading giving the following error on load ( some people get it on exit, but mine is on load):

I'm running windows 7 64bit I have SP1 installed and all updates including recommended ..

I have tried the following fixes none of them work for me.


1) older drivers right back to 353.30 and everything in between

2) Reinstall Microsoft Visual VISUAL C++ 2012 update 4

3) Reinstall Direct X11

4) verify windows files sfc /scannow

5) verify MGS 5 files

6) reinstall MGS 5

7) run mgsvtpp.exe as administrator


so any suggestion would be much appreciated

probably not, been waiting about a month after contacting their support and all i get is a cookie cutter response. Can't even get a refund because they want to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (both steam and Konami)

The game used to work and only did the error on exit, how about you?

I haven't tried a clean install of windows but that's a bit drastic, all my other games work fine.

Ground zero also gives me the same error

could never get the game to even start. I wont do a clean install of windows because like you said its drastic and it should also be unnecessary. besides i have to much stuff i dont want to lose on my main drive.

Try to remember what did you do before the game stopped working. Installed something? Have you tried different game beta?

its difficult to say as i hadnt played it for nearly a month, as had been to busy with work the onlty thing i can think of is installing office

yes i tried that there were only 3 restore points and they dont go back far enough

Everyone, the fix for this problem is simple. Run Windows Update and make sure you have all the critical updates. I was having this problem as well and it went away after updating. A tip though, be weary of the "reccomended" aka optional updates. If you're going to install those make sure you know what they do first. Some of them enable "telemetry" which is basically data collection by Microsoft. Also, there's another annoying on that pesters you to update to Windows 10. Unless you want to upgrade, don't get that one either. Good luck guys.
