METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

What is the point of laser sights~
I love customizing my guns, but lately ive just been removing the laser sights. Why do I need them if I have a scope? If anything the laser sight just seems to give away my position more often. Also, is there anyway to toggle on or off the laser? With the downside of guards noticing where I am the positive of being able to fire more accurately in third person seems to me the pro's arent worth the cons.

What do you guys think?

I should add I usually roll with a flashlight since I can turn it on and off, but they dont seem necessary either since even at night theres a lot of ambient light everywhere. Ive considered modding the game for darker nights, but then that would probably only hinder me and not make it any harder for guards to see me~

In single player, Laser Sights are invisible to NPCs. In multiplayer....you might as well be wearing a Christmas Tree for a hat.

AI does not see lasers. Lasers are useful for 3rd person gunplay. I seldom go 1st person ADS. (outside of sniper rifles) Lasers can help make mid-long range shots accurate, so I take them over a light. Personally, I feel 3rd person shooting is accurate enough. Lasers just further improve that.

Regarding lights, it is more a "oh ♥♥♥♥" stun option. Get in about 6m or less close to an enemy, just raise your weapon and boom. Stunned.
Technically we could still use them to light out way, but NVG makes it pointless. So really just for a stun and trolling MB staff.

what vitalidad said is right. i've never encountered enemies noticing laser sights in single player, so i don't think that's a downside. you might want a laser to help line up longer range shots in 3rd person view. if you don't see a use for it in that way (for example, if you have a scope on the weapon), then don't use it if you don't want to.

also, i've noticed the flashlight's blinding quality makes hold-ups more successful. of course you need to surprise-shine at their face at close range to do this, so it's not the best tactic.

I love Laser Sights. I remember Metal Gear solid being the first game I remember that heavily featured laser sights. Adn I thought that was awesome. Not having them in MGS3 was kind of a dissapointment....can't get enough laserz.

In SP it's a helper for aiming if you're playing vanilla mode where there's no T-PS reticle. Otherwise when enemies use it, looking at you sniper skulls at Code Talker, in multi I suppose it tends to give away your position quite easily, anyone with a functioning eye could spot you across the map if you happened to point it towards him.

No, they weren't exactly around back in the early 60's. Not to my knowledge, anyways. But for a consolation prize, we did get that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome sattelite dish on the NVGs.

I know right? Still....if they can put a giant tin can Metal Gear that looked like my last trash can...they can give me my laserz!

It is nitpicky but Metal Gear and laser sights are kind of tied together to me.

Kind of like epic boss fights (I'm looking at you Liquid, and you MG Ray) and larger than life bad guys...

while mgs3 takes place in 1964, i believe that mgsv takes place in the 70's or 80's, and even though i don't know much about gun mechanics IRL, i think theres a higher probability of laser sights and other tech advances as the timeline goes higher. it's just called evolution of whatever one is talking about.

in terms of bosses, i think skull face's plan, at least when you actually sit back and look at it, was REALLY fricking hardcore as all getout. not only free nukes for everyone that he had the control to as a way of killing two birds with one stone, one bird being the profits for his real plan, and another bird being that it was a great diversion for people to not discover his real plan. his REAL plan was, in a nutshell, to kill everyone else in the world that didnt speak english. racist, but overeffective.

Welp, I'll likey start something... But w.e.

From what I recall, he wanted to kill English. Didn't he blame the countries that invaded others and propagated their language and culture for the poop he went thru and all that is bad in the world?
Since the main players of that are the US and UK, English should go bye-bye.
