METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Is ghosting possible?
Or at least no detection/knock outs? I've always liked to try to complete missions in stealth games with no detection or KO's(sometimes ghost). It doesn't seem like this is possible in this game which is stupid. I'm mostly refering to the scripted Skulls parts. I wish I could just skip those missions.

The only time you have to fight the Skulls is once, during the Metallic Archaea mission, all others are stealthable. And this is Metal Gear. Forced fights are a staple in the series, going all the way back to the very original game on the MSX.

Is it really? I don't recall being able to stealth any of the skull missions, always ends up in a fight and not a complete stealth. Honey Bee-Metallic Archea-Code talker etc.

Not in every missions but in most of them, yes. You'll even earn a 100.000 bonus points and the mention "no trace".

PS: It's a bit tricky though, you actually have to:
-kill no one
-don't trigger any "alert" status
-no reflex
-never use a weapon of any kind (primary, secondary, and even the third kind) you can aim but not pull the trigger
-never use any object except for the box (as long as you don't get out of it) and the nvg
-no cqc (basically never lay a finger, not even kicks, on anyone)
-no supply drop
-you don't use a suit that locks you to a A rank
-no air strike
and here you have your true stealth run ;)

Yes, it's the only forced fight against them, I can confirm this.

Yes even the Honey Bee mission you can sneak by them. It is hard as ♥♥♥♥, because you have to lose them first, but it's possible...and time consuming. It's easier to just out run them.

The beauty of the skulls fights is that they seem un-stealthable... emphasis on the seem.

Come back to them sometime.
What about mission 6 and 16? On 16 I couldn't find a way to get the truck out without being detected. Even with a cloak.

Learn the route the truck takes, then just lay down an EM Mine and find a spot to hide nearby. You'll trigger the cut scene of them jumping out and (this is the part where you need to have patience) just crawl away from the truck and they will slowly, but surely follow you. Alternatively you can try to grab their attention with decoys, but that's hit or miss.

Either way, just lead them away without getting too close and you can go back to the truck and fulton it, or drive it out of the area.

Orrrr, you can go straight to where the truck is at the airport, trigger the scene, quickly fulton the truck, then ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ run like you left the oven on at home.

It seems also if a guard thinks he sees something and comes over to investigate, even if you moved away from the area and were not spotted it spoils a no traces run. This happened to me on mission 30.
I am 100% sure I met all the other requirements and was a little disappointed.
