Terrible console port!
Does it not bother anyone else that when promted to move in a menu, half of the instructions are for a controller and the other half is for keyboard? Did the devs really need to be so lazy that they cannot properly set out instructions?
This game has been out for over a month now and its still the same way, for £50 I expect a polished game not sloppy work.

"Terrible console port!"

"Terrible"

..Please this port is everything all ports should strive to be, it's in no way terrible.

For me it shows prompts based on what i'm using. If i press a controller button, it uses the controller prompts. When my cat touches my mouse and the game thinks I'm using a mouse the prompts change until i move the controller again.

I've never seen a KB/mouse prompt except for after my KB or mouse have been touched.

That is all controls. The performance is great....that is usually where ports go wrong. Hell... I don't care about the controller prompts. Metal Gear is best with a controller of some type anyway, in my opinion.
The contols are a huge part of a port, whats the point in having a pc if all the games are designed to be played with a controller, if I wanted to do that I'd buy an xbone.
....But the controls for this game on kb+m are actually fantastic. I've played through the entire game without a single hitch, all it takes is a couple of extra minutes to learn the proper buttons. This game is actually one of the BEST ports i've seen in a long time.

or for that matter sequential precise headshot at say 300+ m cannot be done tactically with a controller

Don't K&M direclty, hook them up through XIM4 and use either PS4 or X1 smart translator. Recommend you get a USB switch switch as well, so you can switch between PC and XIM without unplugging and replugging all the time.

this game is a terrible console port from pc because of button prompts?

Play DS1 on pc. game performs EXACTLY THE SAME as console even though it could perform better, and the game is locked at 1280x720 rendering resolution even when set to 1920x1080.

Cry some more.

Your arguement is "This game isn't a terrible port when you compare it to one of the worst AA/AAA ports of the last 10 years".. Hmm, doesn't seem like a good arguement. I wouldn't say this game is a TERRIBLE port, it's good in a few ways, but it definitely has it's flaws. As a "port", I'd give it maybe a 6/10.

I could complain about that stuff, but I won't... I was able to just figure out that that analog stick probably ment W S A D, and Action probably ment R, etc etc, superior skills and all from being a 10 year veteran, or common sense, who knows. I am just thankful to finally have Metal Gear Solid on PC, and too busy getting lost in the freedom I have to care. I played every one up to Snake Eater, and this is easily the best. People say it's too easy only because they are punks, and make it so, then they wine about FoB and say they are to hard or they lose all there materials to real Metal Gear players that can wreck there base without Quiet, DD, and a Tank to do all the work. But I love that I finally have the option to do all that badass OP stuff in single player. I can't wait to finally try FoBs when I get mine unlocked, I hope I get locked in some crazy long matches with some serious ninja's.

My ONE complaint so far, is that the minigun on the copper seems to serve no purpose... The one time I tried to use it seriously taking out the copper atking me while I extracted a bunch of black kids from a diamond mine... It made me leave because you can't spend more then 5 seconds in the chopper before it takes off and shuts the door. Miller was like "You're just gonna leave those kids" And I was like NO, DAMMIT STOP THE CHOPPER!" But that Chopper Pilot was like "You'll thank me later" or something...

Why can't you hold Q and say circle around/land or something... I have to deploy and shoot at things to make them come to me, then sit there and spray them from 300m out. The chopper is great, but so dissapointing. Just let me go all over map and shoot things listening to music please... :steamfacepalm:

But seriously, that is like the best "my only complaint" I have ever given to a game. Kojima has truely become a master at this. Too bad from what people have been saying I know not far from now I will hit the Kojima has left the building bit and the game will wrap up to fast. Konami should have just let the man be, AND THEY SHOULD HAVE KEPT DAVID HAYTER! Don't get me wrong I think Keifer Southerland is cool as hell, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ every time Snake speaks it's like blasphemy to a long time fan like myself.

Out of curiosity, what ports do you think were better ported than this?
I have never personally played a game this well ported to PC in my life. The compatibility issues and generally bugginess and poor optimization characteristic of bad ports from mostly Japanese companies are non-existant here. This is like, the most fantastic port I've ever layed hands on.

Well technically this one (supposedly) isn't a port. But as for games that were good ports..

This is going from memory, so I may be wrong about a couple.

Far Cry 3
Just Cause 3
Burnout Paradise
GTA V
Dark Souls II (It was decent, had flaws just like MGSV, but not as many)

Can't say I can remember any more off the top of my head. There's plenty of awful ports, but just because there are worse ones, doesn't make this one magically perfect. It has lots of room for improvement.

GTAV was a better port? I coulda sworn even on lower settings, that thing chugged even on decent machines.
Far Cry 3... feels like an equal port to me, having played it. What's better about it?
Just Cause 2 I also played (Unless you actually meant 3, in which case, WAIT, WHEN DID THAT COME OUT? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) and.. Well, it ran fine. Controlled about as well on KB+M as tpp as well.
DS2 was also a great port, I can't think of any flaws, other than KB+M controls feeling weird. But with the controls, i felt the same about DS2 as TPP. There's no possible way a KB+M setting could ever be as good as a controller setting for Dark Souls. Games like that are always just better with a controller.

Basically, what could be improved? The reason I call this a pretty much perfect port is because... I cannot for the life of me think of anything wrong with it.

just join the modern times and get a controller.. the game plays 100 times better anyway with one.

it's a bad port b/c they want you to use a better way to play the game.. this game plays so much better on a controller i don't see what the issue is.

Dualshock's ○X△□ is sony's trademark.
Sony is not allowed to using that UI icons to PC versions for reason somehow.

actually, Kojipro Change to CQC system for Easy Learning,
and for PC Mouse&Keyboard and other non-Analog Trigger Controller.

it's enough good optimization as japanese videogame studios go.

there's minor critical annoying in-game bug, but it's not part of a bad-port or somethings.

the controls problem is just modern keyboard&mouse's limitation problem.
other many videogame titles from consoles also got lackage control issue in PC Keyboard&Mouses, especially keyboard.

it's not the kojipro's responsibility.
all you can do is buying some XB360/XBONE/Dualshock4&Bluetooth Dongle controlleres or just playing other games designed in Mouse&Keyboards.
