First Sahelanthropus Fight.

I did it the first time after 3 hours of hair pulling, I feel like I'm missing something? this isn't fun. even if he never spots me, he sents his bots or himself right to within 100m of where I am, (even when I'm 400+m out, near the opposite edge of where he is) I can dodge it just fine, but the fact he always knows vaguely where I am makes it 500x more difficult. he keeps cheating and it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ me off. is there any good tactics to win this? I tried leaving emmerich hidden near LZ, but then bot explodes him. I carry him arround and I'm too slow to get back to LZ without him either sending his bots or following me. also why does the mech count as an obstruction when he's 150+m away? this is really annoying.

Run away and hide. The gear will launch scanning pods. avoid them. After it loses track of you, tell the helicoptor to land at the site farthest from the both of you. The gear will go to investigate. Call the chopper back to the closest site and board quickly.

could really use some help. he just came up to the rock I was hiding under from 160m away
and smashed it. he hadn't even spotted me for 300+m and 21 mins. so naturally i inch my way back down the hill, not being spotted, and he somehow keeps knowing which rock I'm behind. I decide to just try sitting it out. so he goes 160+ meters right to the damn rock I'm crouched behind. never spotting me. never got the hazy white detection anything. and he smashes the one rock of 40+ over the past 300m that I was behind. this is getting ridiculous.

I hid on the opposite end of the chopter, layed emmerich next to me, behind large rocks.He stays there for awhile before auto following you but you should make it to the heli ontime

Oh. I tried using airstrikes to bait him, didn't work. Didn't know I could change the land site for this one. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Shooting Young Mantis when he appear will stun Sahelanthropus, Mantis appear when Sahelanthropus spotted you, he float around his head

Dump emeric somewhere and run away from him to keep him safe. (you don't have to deal with him on future replays at all if you've already beaten it once)

If quiet is your buddy she'll destract the mech sometimes giving you some free shots at his back and can even do some damage if she's got the anti-mat rifle (the white cylinders sticking out are weak spots) so bring a launcher and fire away.
If you camp, you die - keep moving.
Never stay directly in front of him, don't get too close or he'll flamethrower you.
When you run away don't go in a straight line to avoid the machine gun.
His tracking drones usually hit you if you don't have the full speed running upgrade - find cover when he launches them.
If you get a free couple of seconds hiding behind a rock call a supply drop for ammo - save waiting for the one you get when you run out of ammo and just run to it when you need it.
If you're stuck inside the circle of exploding rocks stay in the middle and you wont get hurt when they explode.
When he goes into "tank mode" looking for targets with the giant gun - well, don't be a target of that thing, you'll die. You can sneak from cover to cover and cheap-shot him during that time.
When he gets low on health he'll jump at you and you get reflex mode, turn and shoot the floating boy with a gun and you can get some more free shots with your launcher/grenades while he's stunned.

The fight is super easy once you have upgraded equipment if you want to go back and S it, wait till you have the upgraded missile launchers, rapid-fire grenade launchers, battledress armor etc.

This fight is awesome, Sahelanthropus is actually so scary when he is looking for you, really liked every Sahelanthropus encounter

I was having trouble with the first fight against it too, then I found out I could actually re-locate the chopper's landing zone.

Why are you fighting it? The objective it so get away from it and extract. You are basicly playing hide and seek with a gear.

You can also use smoke grenades to stay out of sight. Just keep Hue away from smoke as he seems to take damage from it and that ruins a task.

Just another piece of advice for if you ever decide to replay the mission: As long as you're using silenced weapons, Sally doesn't seem to care if you blow up the drones.

sahelanthropus is freaking terrifying... it seems that when im running around with that science nerd on my back (like otocon but with robot legs) its really hard to get to the LZ without being spotted. i initially made a dash for a truck, then worked my way back... got pinned behind a rock, just about pissing myself as i see sahelanthropus towering over the rock, but miraculously not noticing me.
