ATM there's a dozen of sideops I can redo in Afgha, the least I had was 2 ungreyed sideops.
As far as I could see, those two minimum redoable missions were random (when I finished one, another one ungreyed out).
That's for sideops.
But, after doing so much sideops (70h~ in Afgha) I got the feeling that I hardened up a lot the whole main missions, as enemies are leveled to you.
Several others are yellow "main story" side ops that you'll have to complete in order to unlock certain story missions to progress. These cannot be repeated once you've done them.
The rest are recycled after you clear them during free roam and return to your ACC.
As for how to mix up your gameplay..I tended to just do Side Ops only if I was in the area after completing a mission, or was on my way to accept the next mission. I also ran around the map on foot until the game forced me back to MB.
I just like to do various stuff and not rush at all. As a bonus, my development is pretty far and my base is half 4/4, with medical, combat and intel being 3/4. Although I blame the stupid way resources are processed for most of the time played.
