METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Question for long term MGS fans. (MGS4 spoilers)
I've only played MGS3 and MGS5, but I understand that in MGS4, Big Boss tricks everyone into thinking that he's dead by using Solidus' body. I've watched the cutscenes on Youtube, and it looks pretty obvious that the corpse is missing its left eye, which is the one that Solidus lost in MGS2 (I also watched the cutscenes on youtube). Big Boss lost is his right eye in MGS3.

How did nobody notice this? How did the trick work if the body was obviously missing the wrong eye?

Thanks

Big Boss didn't trick anyone...EVA tried to. And the intention wasn't really to trick anyone. They just used Solidus' corpse as spare parts to bring Big Boss back. Turned out people are dumb and the corpse made a good distraction too.

They maybe didn't pay as much attention to the eye as they did the DNA that was in the body itself.

We only see Big Boss' corpse in the pyx when Eva opens it, right? Other than that and when it's burning, we don't get a view of it.

I watched the cutscene over again, and it was pretty difficult to see which eye was there. I'm sure they made it that way on purpose. There was no reason to suspect it wasn't Big Boss when it was shown either, so it fooled me initially. I'm sure it also fooled other people.

It was suspicious though, I'll give you that! I mean how long do you get to see the thing? Like 3 seconds? And the entire storyline pivots on that body's existence really. THAT did catch my eye - no pun intended - the first time I played.

Even though we only see the body for a few seconds, I saw very clearly what was a partially mutilated body. Missing lips, half a nose and a lot of missing skin. On top of that, the sealed bag contained quite a bit of fluid sloshing around.

The eyesockets were also fairly sunken, making it difficult to determine which eye was damaged.
