Difference:
E rank soldiers notices you from far. He stands there for 5 minutes wondering what that is and doesn't do anything. Has no armor at all so you can head shot with ease.
A rank soldiers notices you from far. He approaches you to check it out. Since he's full armored only lethal or CQC can take him out.
So higher Combat Rank does affect Security Team...got it
But you mentioned that any other class is basically "useless"; Does this mean that an A++ or a S rank from a different field than Combat Unit don't contribute whatsoever?
Thanks and sorry for the confusion
Hopefully someone else replies for that since I'm curious as well now. But honestly S ranks are better used in their respective unit.
if you do the auto-sort with combat priority, it treats your security team as a 'page 2' for the combat team, if that makes sense.
if you do auto-sort 'all staff', it goes back and forth for the combat and security teams. so the best combat rating soldier goes to combat team, the second best combat rating goes to security team, the third best to combat team, and so on.
both teams are ranked only by the combat stat. no other stat matters for combat level, security level, or the actual effectiveness of your security guards.
1) For the Security Team itself only combat rank matters, nothing else affects that.
As mentioned by others, higher rank means longer spotting distances, faster reactions, they'll move in gorups more, they use cover more, they actually use mortars and AA guns a lot ealrier/more and so on.
(However, zeta, the Rnak doe snot matter a thing for the armor. You need to set them to grade 3 gear or higher for them to wear sneaking or abttle dress, and from grade 5 gear ownard they#ll also use helmets.)
2) you will also notice the different unit fucntions you can see when in staff management and press T twice. those also affect your Security level 8and GREATLY affect how good oyur defenses really are). Stuff to look for:
Combat Unit -> Security deployment: When the enemy raises an alarm mroe and faster reinforcements for your guards.
Security unit -> Blockade: Reduces the time the enemy has to invade (can go down to 8 Minutes on S rank there)
Base Developemnt -> Automated Security: basically increases the number of Security Devices liek Mines, IR Sensors, UAV's and such.
Intel team -> Security Planning: Improves the palcement of the Guards and devices, as well as patrol routes and such, making it harder for the enemy.
All those listed things are improved by simply levleing up oyur corresponding units, and slwoly you will see a raise in Security level. (And especialy for the Secondary funcitons i lsited, it will make a much bigger difference to the invader than it actually implies lvl wise).
Right, much obliged ;)
R&D will improve the number of ammo your recruit will get on weapon on the floor
Medical will lesser the chance of combat wound
Support will make fulton extraction faster
I can't exactly remind about base dev and intel.
