The main modes are fobs and mgo3. mgo3 has a weird thing where it feels like it has it's own animation system which feels slower and stiff, and has weird pauses when transitioning to different animation or trying to animation cancel which in tpp feels awesome. Mgo3 in general however is alright, if you can download the anti cheat mods and find matches.
Fobs are very hard but get repetitive if you don't engage in it's pvp and once you have enough mastery over the AI ( who has some dumb clunky stuff like how it always know where you are and sniper AI being broken and generally defeating the point of the game's many mechanics and experimentations cause they quickly zoom in on you with zero drawbacks)
To be honest i wont watch but i will predict a few points, cause usually they are dumb and generic
1)open world is empty
2)game is incomplete
3)no bosses like in mgs3(i described above what mgs3 feels like)
4)wrong main character
Less listed "problems"
1)rander distance
2)dead online or mgo2 was better
Its all subjective just watch fob videos, or prenatual stealth video, if interested you have time to try it out, if not up your taste - refund
lol refund after 2 hour mark and with modern steam's scummy climate? fat chance
well many others will say other wise, even those in australia who have a right in certain conditions but steam agents refuse to do so
It's not perfect but it's one of the last games that felt like a generational leap for the series, and as long as you can accept that the story will not be presented in a typical, linear fashion, the campaign is quite enjoyable as well. There is plenty of replay value if you consider all the side objectives and tech upgrades.
personally, im skeptical about what others say
1) The directly shown story is more in depth for the MGS 1-4, as half these games is pretty much cutscenes and talking. Peace Walker and even more so MGS 5 reduced that in favor of more replayability.
Furthermore, a big part of the MGS 5-story is hidding in either casettes (like you can sit down and just listen to audio files for a few hours, which honestly isn't as interesting as the cinemativ approach of older titles) or in enemy soldiers talking to each other (and you need to put the puzzle pieces together yourself for that). Obviously if you want to dive into it, then this story is the deepest of all MGS-titles, but most casual players are usually not interested in doing so, which makes it feel a littlebit shallow.
2) The open world feels lacking. It's definitely great to just have some big areas where you can jump from outpost to outpost to do some side missions or start main missions without going back to your base and it feels like these aren't just random locations you're interacting with, but there's not really that many reasons to do stuff outside of invading outposts, unless you want to catch some animals, which is also not that interesting to do.
3) The Gameplay is definitely the most refined out of all the games. The amount of weapon types and configuration options is just wild and you can play the game however you want, without being forced into specific playstyles (except for some hard versions of some missions). Combined with the online stuff you can easily put hundreds of hours into this game to unlock everything.
So if you've ever played any MGS title before and thought "i could play this for 50 more hours, but don't want to deal with the story every single playthrough", then this game is probably the best you can get out of the series. Otherwise, if you want a great story with the typical cinematic staging of older MGS-titles, then it might still be worth to get the game on sale and just focusing on the main missions and only upgrading like a small amount of weapons and you should still get a decent experience.
