Game doesn't launch for me, any more...
It's been about 6 months since I played MGSV TPP, but now I find it doesn't launch. The Steam launch button stays pressed for a few seconds before it reverts to unpressed state. Anyone got any ideas? TY!

Are you currently running mods? if not try verifying your game files you might have corrupted files or a file missing this generally fixes these issues.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not running any mods, and my game files didn't show any faults when I verified them on Steam. I just tried reinstalling the game, but the problem remains unchanged.

PS.. Still cannot get the game to launch. Strangely, another MGSV game (Ground Zero) launches just fine. Anyone got any suggestions?

It's the phantom pain, you must wait 9 years, It's a feature kojima added, what a genius !

Ok joke aside I don't know, we could use some more infos on your OS and PC build as something may have been changed. Also check that the game actualy play online, turn your antivirus off and if that doesn't help then keep us informed.

I'm having similar issues. I bought the game before they did the "Snakes legacy" thing, and now it says "Steam API failed, make sure you're logged into steam and on an account that has the game"

I can literally go prove when I bought it from steam, so it's not a "Yar-har" issue like most people seem to assume. Hell, I'd probably have an easier time running the game if I did :zaglol: given how bad steam is becoming and all.

I think it has something to do with the way they're listing the game now. It's effectively removed access to the game post purchase because it's not the "new" listing of the game.

Edit:

So...the issue is running STEAM, not the game, but STEAM ITSELF in admin mode.

For some reason, due to the whackass way the game was coded, it only launches then.

Any other attempts failed. (I have no Antivirus, so firewall blocking it isn't a possibility, I have no other outside programs that would ever even remotely interfere with a game reaching the Steam API)

Maybe give that a shot?

This issue is still a thing, for me even running Steam in admin mode still won't let the game launch
Edit: I was able to get it to launch using this ( http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/confirmation.aspx?id=30679)
