Playing only offline
Hello there, I would like to play the game only offline, without any interactions with the online mode (I don't like it).

My question is about this: I know that there is some kind of attack on my base, and I can attack others' bases as well (I think this is called "FOBs"?).

I contacted support, and they told me to disconnect from the internet and start the game to play offline mode. I did that and played it successfully.

Now, my question is: when I reconnect to the internet and I'm not playing, can someone attack my base or do anything similar?

Do you have experience playing offline and managing attacks on your base? Can someone attack you or do anything like that while you're connected to the internet but not playing the game?

Thank you in advance!

If you didn't build any FOBs, they obviously can't be attacked due to the lack thereof. Connecting to the Internet while the game is not launched does nothing, as you probably know, since you are writing here. If you built at least one FOB, they can be attacked regardless of you playing the game and your Internet connection. Though, playing offline will prevent the data synchronization, so you won't suffer from draining your resources online. However, the offline mode limits your available equipment significantly.

If you're interested. Mods like infinite Haven allows you to boot the game setting it automatically to offline mode, so you don't have to disconnect from the internet.

"Take me off the grid V2" is also great for anyone like yourself seeking to play the game exclusively offline.

Oh, cool! I didn't know I could skip the FOB mission. I'll do that and try to play offline. Thank you.

Anyway I don't use mods or anything like that.

If you are offline during and after mission 21 (and 22? or is 22 the FOB building? don't remember), the FOB building is skipped.

Don't fall for the trap. There is no single player in this game. FOB is woven into the fabric of what the game is starting at mission 22. There are goals are to develop your FOB and must have weapons that you can't develop without securing the blueprint for them which is done from FOB Events. (Non-player attacks of FOB) Basically they're AI bases. You need to be connected to do those and yeah, you connect and attempt anything relating to those and you will have an online FOB just like everybody else.

The bad, there is none, it's only in your mind that it's bad. People have a perception that OMG my base got attack, I must retaliate. No, Ignore the one-offs, they'll happen. They aren't a problem if you ignore them. They'll drop from your retaliate list in 30 days. If you ignore them, they will only find you randomly.

The Good, FOB is the fastest way to earn any resource you need for literally anything in the game. Weapons development, FOB development, Item development. FOB is the fastest way. Plus GMP is earned at an extremely accelerated rate.

Finding you specifically out of the 670000+ bases is slim to rare. If you attack 3 bases per day from the infiltration Targets list, it will be MONTHS before you get attacked once and you will have raked in a bookoo ton of resources and GMP. 99% of those bases are abandoned. I used to do 10 a day for years. The random person hitting me would be like maybe once every couple months doing 10 a day. Call that 600 infiltrations to 1. You will come out heavily on top. It's those who feel like they need to retaliate and start wars with people that they find themselves in trouble.

Successful infiltrations does take a while to get good at, but practice makes perfect and once you got it, you will unlock a whole lot more. If nothing else, but for the RP. You can only get that from the Event FOB.

I mean, if all you want is the weapons, you can just play the Event FOB and never attack a target. Some random person will still find you maybe once every 6 months, but again, it's only a perception of being attacked. It's completely insignificant, even if you're just playing the Event, which is attacking an AI that can't attack back.

I say, keep your stuff plugged in, learn FOB and reap the benefits. The trap is in thinking it's a problem in the first place.
I won't be so verbose, just what you need to know: the plot is indeed a wrapper for the FOB money pump, although I wouldn't say it doesn't exist. You don't need any of the online weapons to complete the story, some of them are FOB only, and having an FOB can cost you what little resources you have, since to systematically drain you to zero your steam profile link is enough. The PvP mechanics are full of what can't be called other than built-in cheats, and to add insult to injury, the game is extremely vulnerable to actual cheating and Konami has no intention of patching anything. Thing is, after you complete the incomplete story, you basically have nothing to do. In my first playthrough I ignored the FOBs completely, but got bored, and dicovered a wonderful world full of Snakebite, Cheat Engine, Wemod, and HTTP injection users. It cost me a lot of frustration and development, since I was unaware of my base being systematically drained and things like "teleport to marker". Then i got pissed off and started digging the mechanics. Now I am the night, boo. So it's up to you to decide, but I'd complete the story and then got to FOBs. On the other hand, the weapons from FOB events, like AM A114 RP, are interesting. Your choice, just remember that Konami did everything to make you pay for faster development. And this is about some things you may not expect: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3130257957

You have absolutely no idea of what you'll be missing (resource and personnel wise) by trying to avoid FOB.

Whatever you may end up losing because of invasions (very rare nowadays, game's kinda dead) you can easily recover tenfold very easily.

Anyway, have fun fultoning containers on the map. :steamfacepalm:

this is where game sharing would come in clutch but steam users being hired shills and narcissist parasites want you to use family sharing slots for yourself.

If you will never share with anyone then family share with another steam account, after that play mgs v on it and always decline the terms and services , everything would work as normal except you'll not be connected online unless you accept terms of services, go to mgo3 menu, connect online option in start button

I call BS on that one, but it's no surprise you resort to cheats and hacks with this mentality. FOB is the key to freedom. It's your financing and your resources. Attacks on you personally are minimal. You can easily gain 10000x the resources of what any one person could possibly take from you.

fob hacks exist where they drain your resources and your men

Right, that's exactly what I'm saying to that person that uses such a hack to cheat then tries to participate in the forums like people don't know and can't put 2 and 2 together to know that they're the one who did it.

The premise and legit gameplay behind the game is exactly what I said it is. It's only the cheats like the guy I was responding to. I keep backups of my saves, so I don't worry about it at all. I just restore a save and I'm back to where I was before he attacked me. That wasn't what I was talking about. They're not going after noobs anyway. They're going after those of us with 2500+ S++ and 9 years of resource harvesting because he's too lazy to do it legitimately.

well, you probably don't, but it's not game related. thing is, some people whose cheating and douchebaggery in-game and at the forum has backfired, are feeling a bit "eeeeeeeeee!!!" now. it brings me unspeakable satisfaction, and their attempts to pretend they are the community, or some elite of it, and have the right to judge someone, amuse me to no end
