METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

M2000-D Sniper Rifle
We're stuck with this thing until we've leveled up quite a bit, so I have to ask... Is anyone else annoyed by this weapon? Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I've gotten 1-shot kills with this weapon to the upper bodies of some enemies, but I swear I've gotten headshots that don't kill. I seen an enemy's head poking up, and it's all I could hit. I fired, got a hit-marker, and then nothing. I know Enforcers have extra health, so I know sometimes it'll take more than 1 round, but more than a headshot? Maybe it was lag, but this sniper rifle seems to consistently be inconsistent.

Remember that shots are NOT hitscan, meaning they do have to travel across some distance over time. Included with that is gravitational pull, so eventually your bullet will also drag downwards from the intended point. With that said, it's possible that damage falls out at longer distances as well.

This is just assuming you're shooting at very long ranges. If it makes you feel better, the pistols require two headshots to kill, even at point blank.

It can one shot infiltrators but 2 shot everyone else.

It's also useful against Walker Gears. 3 hits and a Walker is down.
Never had problems with headshots though. If the game doesn't tell you "Headshot" then you hit something else. Just look out for that.

Yeah, bullet drop and travel time were considered. It must have been lag or something. As for damage falling off after traveling, there was this one guy who was actually about 8 feet away. He managed to get into our spawn with a shield. He was holding it up towards the team he rushed past which gave me a clean shot from the side. Since he had the shield, he must have been an Enforcer, which is why I figured I'd ask. Again, it was probably just lag.

Wait until you get to level 37, you get a 12.7mm Anti-material rifle. Talk about a NICE gun. But sadly I chose ascension over the big gun.

Stop using that sniper. The advantage of mouse aim makes it worthless.

The semi-auto hitstuns players at any range, and 2 shots both scouts and infiltrators from bodyshots. Also, the rapid fire make popping heads far easier Comparitivly.
People get around so fast that by the time you load the next round on the m2000 they are already in cover or busting out full sprint.

It depends on the class. Enforcer has more health. It 1 shots infiltrators/scouts though. The next sniper above that is absolutely broken.

It really take skills to use the M2000 and kill a moving target.
