MGO3 will never live up from MGO2
Its pretty much run around and spray at people.
The skill it took to play MGO2 with the headshots and cqc is not there anymore.
Just like Battlefront was marketed to "casual" gamers, so has MGO3.

I've never played any previous metal gear games (never interested me) but is there a way to play mgo 2 or is it shutdown plus what was so special about it?

You can, they brought it back but you have to jailbreak your console.
MGO2 was pretty balanced, and took a large amount of skill to play, one shot headshots, a gear customization system that was awesome, survival, tournaments.
Awesome codec packs, cool things like charm, and the fact that people hosted rooms just to chill in and chat.

The CQC hit detection was just as bad in MGO2 as it is in MGO3. Plus you could inadvertently CQC teammates, because throwing your teammate to the ground when he was behind you, and then having both of you shot in the face was just so much fun.

damn thats kinda dissapointing I tend to stray away from consoles now since they are such a rip off
MGO3 is faster, has better animation and better gun or aim mechanic. I believe people tend to be Rambo-Player, because of these elements.
MGO3 sure needs a hell lot of more content and fixes (mute already!!!), but the basic foundation is rock solid. I cannot really tell how MGO2 has felt back in the days, because I only played like 2 rounds, but when I look at some Gameplay footage it's slower and clunkier than MGO3 (And TPP in general)

MGO3 is even worse.

There was no sprint in MGO2 and you had to be precise with your shooting.

Agreed, the best thing about MGO2 is actually the game modes, there are much more interesting and fun modes. I jumped in right at the end of MGO2 life and I have fun there. The mode I remembered the most is that one with 2 teams agains each other and snake need to take out one of the team member from both team

Although some would also argue that MGO2 also felt lacking in its early stage, we can only cross our fingers since MGO3 just enter the beta in PC, and honestly, for now, just fix the bug, especially the gameplay bug. I hate being phantom grabbed and receive late damage each match.

As a former MGO2 (and 1) player, I think this version is a little lacking, but with more maps, a few rebalancing patches, it should be just as fun, if not better than the older ones. MGO1 and 2 were slow paced because the games they came with were slow. MGO3 is the companion of a fast paced game. It's a normal evolution, just as how TPP ended that way.

I definitely had it happen on a number of occasions. I'm guessing it was a custom match setting or something.

Well I would like to see 1 shot headshots back.
And instead of a class system I prefered the drebin point system.
Also they charge the same amount of GP as they did for gear in MGO2 with no survival or tourneys.

I believe you were in training.

Sprint shouldn't be a big deal, since nobody in their right mind would use it when approaching an enemy, since it gives away your position on the map
