*Possible Spoilers* Why didn't Quiet just talk to Code Talker in Navajo and have him translate to everyone else?

Or better yet, since she spent about five minutes directing Pequod to the Boss's position, and clearly he wasn't effected by it and neither was Pequod, as far as we can tell, why not just speak english to everyone? Sorry if this is nitpicky, but this seems like a huge plot hole to me. She could have easily just talked to Code Talker and had him translate to everyone else, Code Talker could have taught Big Boss Navajo so he could easily understand her. It just seems like lazy writing. Maybe I'm missing something but if so please fill me in.

i don't get how it is "terribly written", do you mean that she should have escaped? but her arc was that she was conflicted and that in the end she decides she does love Big Boss. this is why she makes Mother Base her home. the fact that she can escape and doesn't means she loves Big Boss THAT MUCH.

the entirety of her arc is utter trash
>refuses to kill the boss because she has a hardon for him 5 minutes after he shoots her
>instead of unleashing the strain and killing everyone but her (because the one that covers would heal her regardless) she proves that she's incredibly unrealiable to the people who healed her
>the entire stupid rain dance sequence with the ♥♥♥♥ audio
>doesn't use Codetalker as a catylist to talk to them
>in the entire time, and this has been said over and over on the tapes, she has not spoken the english language yet and so the virus is dead because it can't survive by that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason
and it also proves that Joosten is a terrible actress. MGS V is filled with bad decisions and poorly thought out moments it baffles me how Kojima allowed this after working on this ♥♥♥♥ for 8 years

Whether she escaped or not is irrelevant. When people say something is badly written, they don't mean they disagree with the outcome of the story, it normally means there are glaring contrivances or plot holes. Sometimes these are nitpicks, and sometimes they are sections where characters engage in blatantly paradoxical behavior. In this case, it is bizarre that quiet is capable of communication safely with code talker, but decides that the only way to save big boss is to sacrifice herself. She definitely did not need to do what she did, and could have safely saved big boss. This is completely forced, totally unnecesarry, and a great example of bad writing. The conclusion may be legitimate, but the path leading to the conclusion is just awful.

How? Code Talker was not in the helicopter. The chances of Pequod randomly knowing Navajo are slim.

How? Code Talker was not in the helicopter. The chances of Pequod randomly knowing Navajo are slim.

Was Kaz in the helicopter every time boss went out? Was ocelot? The answer is definitely no, as in multiple scenes they walk away as the chopper flies off. And yet boss communicates with them no problem. Another thing, Quiet directs Pequod to her location using her voice because Pequod cant see through the sandstorm. How many times did Big Boss put a marker down for where peuqod should land, and Pequod never needed visual sight? It happens the entire game. Please actually think about the circumstances of your question. You are implying that anyone boss ever communicated with was in the chopper, when we know for certain they were at mother base.

Wasn't there talk with Code Talker on tapes about how english is an amalgamation of other languages, that would presume even risking talking any other language might cause a chance of outbreak. Silence would be the only option, but then again the same thing can be said for other languages as well.

How in the holy hell would her and Code Talker speaking STRICTLY IN NAVAJO be "taking part in the english language"? Code Talker speaks in English throughout the entire game, he clearly isn't infected with the englis strain. So him translating for her could easily be accomplished. I'm starting to think common sense flies right over your head.
Please read through the replies that Gabe Anthouse and Siegeh251 wrote, as the two of them have gone further into this and explained why it's stupid extremely well, and actually think a little bit before posting your next response.
