Hideo Kojima is one of the worst writers

Almost everything everyone says sounds like it should be in fan fiction written by a 14 year old. He shoehorns his weird piss fetish into every game. So many characters are so cringey.

Kojima designed video games tight on resources. There is a lot to be said about all of MGS being able to be run on PS3 because there was a lot of tedious software work. He did fall off on death stranding and deserves real criticism for it, maybe fixed in DS2. The worst part of it all is the ♥♥♥ death grip on MGS source code, because he says a lot of great MMO or dark souls like multiplayer ideas in the development documentaries that just weren't achievable with one product. MGS5 is one of the worst written MGS's, though it is implicated in the title that it is the empty limb of the entire series, left over scraps, but it's still extremely iconic and photogenic which is commendable. Besides a lot of the gameplay is still good, FOBs are close enough to the old oil rig design. DS is where the gameplay is perfectly good, yet the story is just completely dead. The villains are barely written, and the 10 hour lore next to the fist fight sequence is bad. The fist fight had already happened, and it was a sentimental to the still awesome first fight on rex, and Ocelot's story in MGS3 is very good, and you finally get to beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of him except you are left permanently questioning his supernatural role in the story. Yet it is repeated in DS and you are like what? Why? Ok. the big psuedo robot fight before it was ok as a minigame, but why am I in slow motion fistfight against a guy I have barely given a thought to over the 80 hours of delivering stuff and building things. Maybe he is going to be fixed in DS2, the trailer was good, but if you can't develop your villains properly what's the point. MGS5 has this issue too. The good part is you might see the final act of MGS5 get modded in at this rate.

Kojima is fantastic at little gameplay quirks, there are so many little things you can discover. He's really talented at this and I kind of wish he worked for many different companies doing expressly this.

He is utter cringe with story, character and dialogue writing.

This is why i hate movie fans too, any deviation from their cringe writing style and they ♥♥♥♥ on the movie.

I think he's far too heavy on metaphor, that and his often overly complicated writing tends to cause him to trip over himself and end up retconning or just writing things that don't make sense in the universe. he's also pretty notably bad at writing characterization that goes beyond the metaphors he constantly uses, especially female characters.

this, people hate on anything the second it changes.

but, they also hate how things dont evolve and change.
