Question about using the helicopter

So, you obviously get in the helicopter to get from mission to mission, and you can call in the chopper to give air support, but is it possible for me to just stay in the chopper and man the minigun myself and kind of free roam?

No you cannot free roam inside the helicopter, it is for landing and getting out of area. You can circle around enemy outposts inside helicopter and keep shooting if you want, but it will land eventually after few circles.
In your mother base though, you can fly around and enjoy the view.

You can actually choose to land on enemy territory, pequod will do a flyby and you can make use of the minigun and take out the enemy in the area, certain mission or side ops you can blow up armored vehicles, tanks or enemy gunship while in the chopper. That's about it.

i wish u could use the helicopter to go from one point of the map to another in free roam mode instead of having to load into ACC then back into free roam

Yea its weird, Like I have the option to man, and shoot the minigun but the game wont let me fly over bases to really utilize that?

All the weapons systems the chopper has are meant for support or defense. It's not an attack chopper.

All that I've been able to do is call in the chopper, and make it move from landing zone to landing zone, nothing else. But I don't think you can do that while you are on the chopper. Haven't tried that.
