METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

MGS:TPP has stopped working
I've recently got the game, and every time I try to play it, it keeps crashing before I can even get past the logos - my game freezes and I get a 'Not responding' popup. I've tried multiple "solutions" such as:

- Running it in Win 7 compatibility mode,
- Reinstalling vcredist
- Running as admin
- Reinstalling the game
- Reinstalling the game again on another hard drive
and many more

None of these seem to be working and I don't know what's causing it either. Here are my specs if anyone needs them:

Processor: Intel Core i7-4720HQ (2.6GHz to 3.6GHz)
Operating System: Windows 10 x64-bit
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M w/ 4GB GDDR5
Memory: 24GB DDR3L 1600MHz DRAM

Yes, it is a laptop, but that shouldn't be problem, considering I can run all the newest games at stable 60+ fps on high settings. Any help would be appriciated.

Have you tried rebooting your computer with "selective startup"? There could be another program running in the background that might be the issue. Also, try running the game off-line. It's worth a shot.

I've just tried both and neither worked, its still crashing around the logo's.

I got the game, put over 2 hours in it, and finished a certain mission. When it said ''press space to continue'' (or whatever it says), my game stops responding. Restarted the game, it worked, did other missions, where I only had that one mission left. I done it, and it crashed again.

I don't know, man, I've got a similar problem. I didn't pay ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 30 dollars to play for 4 hours.

It's just these new games, they don't work for some people, and there's pretty much no known solutions.

I assume you've installed the latest drivers for your video card and sound card. Try validating the files, sometimes, even with a fresh install, files get corrupted. Have you tried deleting the "appcache" folder where STEAM is installed? Try that, delete & reboot.

Was OP's problem fixed because I've been dealing with random crashes since I got it during the Summer Sale.

i5-2500k
AMD R9 380
16GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 10
I've fully uninstalled AMD video drivers and reinstalled them over the months.

Usually after it crashes to desktop the screen turns mostly white and you can see a smaller window on the bright white screen. Usually the small window is of whatever was on the screen the last time I ALT+TABed to desktop. So you'd think ALT+TABing would be causing this, but I get these same kinda crashes whether I ALT+TAB during the session or not. I had a crash today, hit the printscreen button, but after opening paint to paste the image nothing came up.

I actually did play this game in offline mode for a few hours without getting a crash weeks ago, but doesn't that defeat the purpose of 1/2 the game especially after you've 100% the progress stat? I'm playing for FOB activities now and you have to be online. Like don't you have to be online to get materials processing done or more of it?

I use a wired Xbox 360 controller BTW.

Have you tried disabling Shadowplay in The GeForce Experience? That's been a known issue causing the game to crash. Not sure if it's your issue or related to the this person had, but it's a known issue.

I had the same issue, after searching the forums i found out it was shadowplay, the way i fixed it was i went into the geforce experience, clicked settings and then turned off share, as soon as it was turned off it seemed to work just fine.
