METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

Fix the !@#$ing mines
This goes for MGO and MGSV as well.

If I place a mine, whether it be a M21 claymore or the LLG sleep gas mine, I nor my allies should be capable of tripping these devices. The number of times I've self detonated sleep mines directly after placing them, or committed suicide just after planting a claymore because my turn around animation just slightly tripped the mine from the inside... this has to change.

Also in FOBs, this should have been known from the start because it would take one play session to realize setting up mines near the core entrance will cause your soldiers to walk into it and blow themselves up. How did this make it past the first week of QA?

Do the right thing Konami. Patch this so planted claymores/mines are displayed as "green" to allies and yourself, just like the pre-placed mines are when you show up to defend on your own FOB. This shouldn't be a difficult change, just a modification of a few lines of code at worst.

It really is so freaking easy to fix. All they have to do is change the spawned entity from an "enemy" claymore to a friendly claymore, the green laser ones that spawn when you deploy to the field. Seriously how tough is that?

Point towards enemy.

Then what? Luckily back away from the mine and hope the animation doesn't get you killed? And even if you survive, now you not only blocked off the enemy from moving through that area, but you blocked yourself as well. It's terrible design and needs fixing.

Sounds like you're bad at mines. Have you tried pointing towards enemy?

Why is it that fulton cannons don't trip? Puppy snares? Because this is a freaking game where soldiers can go invisible. A half naked sniper can jump dozens of feet and shoot a jet pilot in the head. A giant metal robot is piloted by a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ psychic kid. You're really going to bring realism into this discussion?

All I want is the right thing for this VIDEOGAME to work as it should. Self tripping claymores and mines is about the dumbest thing in this game, even with all the above mentioned silliness. It makes mines completely ineffective at defending in FOBs, and also ruins movement in MGO.

Why would you EVER want this to stay as it is? Do you not want the best for this game's future? Seriously this is some unbelievable troll level of arguing broken game mechanics you guys are doing.

In terms of the mines killing you that is realistic.. Annoying? indeed but it's easy to place a mine down and BACK away from it seems you don't understand that after placing down the mine just aim and back up away from it you're trying to quickly turn which most of the time results in triggering the explosives

You seem to be missing the point that I understand >I< can back away from the mines. But what about my soldiers on my FOB? I have 0 control over them and where they move. Am I supposed to just watch them STUPIDLY walk into my mines and go "oh well! that's realism!" ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?

This is the dumbest bunch of defense force replies I've ever read. Is there ANYONE with some sense out there who sees how stupid this is? How the mines should only trip by enemies?

Wait... what, I've placed mines on friendly/my own base & they can walk over all them without setting them off. I haven't played FOB in while but did they change it so friendly AI can trip them ??

As for them in MGO well.. most of the mechanics items& the scripts they run on are ripped right from singleplayer, why CQC is a joke cause in singleplayer you can grab guards a few feet from you so this problem occurs in MGO.

Better to fix instant mine explosion after setting her on sloping surfaces, like one on the last strat of base dev platform.
No_Quarter Feb 6, 2016 @ 2:28am
you must be special kind to forget where you placed the mine and trigger it in MGO, I always walk back when I place it and continue to hold right click and walk little more back and that's it, your next move should be to lure enemy into the trap and not go over the trap your self.
I can't trigger friendly mines so it's fine

as for FOB, case is different, I assume no one in tests was "creative" enough to think that mines near core will work, it is pointless to place them there. As for my mine placement, I never noticed in logs that some guards triggered them and I get attacked a lot these days cause of all S++

i came here cuz the second i place a sleeping mine, it gets triggered. i guess its ♥♥♥♥♥♥ animations and what not. i guess slope matters too

On ur FOB the mines that glow green will not detonate except against the infiltrator. When placing a mine do not turn but back away one or two steps then turn. Sleep mines u can place prone, use the aim to pivot 180 degress and u will not detonate the mie
