Online Service is still online but don't expect live service updates or anything lol.
Game is really good; if you do buy it, get the definitive version so you can play Ground Zeroes with context. Replayability will be endless and even more endless once you get mods if you want. Play the game vanilla first run-in, then get mods and go nuts.
Yes it's a great game. You buy Def. Ed as Johnny Dej said, you play V GZ first, then V TPP.
Then once you'll be done with both, will look up the extra ending on YT and experiencing some of that "Phantom Pain" a lot of us felt when the game ended, be ready to set your expectations to realistic and think about getting Metal Gear Survive as a bonus.
As a spinoff (and SP game first & foremost), I think it's also a good game.
And yes you can play MGS V offline, you just get less resources and miss out FOB mode.
I would consider Metal Gear Survive last on the list.
Once you're done, get MGS3 and/or Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker:
If you don't have an emulator or console that can get these two games, there's no shame in watching youtube walkthroughs. The story is more entertaining in those two anyways.
Metal Gear Survive isn't a Metal Gear Solid game in my opinion; same with revengeance, but everybody has their own opinion.
You can also get MGS 2 on PC and supposedly after community patches it's playable (haven't tested yet), but it's not tied in the same way that MGS 3, MGS V and MGS: PW are.
I was surprised with Survive. After horrible beta I expected nothing and I was pleasantly surprised with what the game offered. It was so good to again jog in that buttery smooth, sweet Fox Engine animations and world. And stealth worked well. And surprisingly, the game has a story and it even got interesting. And after getting through early jank, it was fun.
I was surprised how much "Metal Gear Solid" is in Metal Gear Survive.
IDK either way you should totally still get this. The game will be coming out again allegedly on MGS Collection Vol.2
