Ground Zeroes Bonuses?
I see the option to transfer the save file and have gathered from other forum threads that it gets some in-game bonuses. But is it required that you've beaten Ground Zeroes in order to unlock those bonuses?

Yes.

Every mission you beat in GZ gives you an unlock, as long as you finish the missions in some ways.

For example, if you finish the "Rescue Intel Team Member" mission, you will unlock a new soldier for MB in TPP.

Another example: extract Eye and Finger from the GZ mission where you're asked to kill them, to unlock them in TPP.

Thanks so much for the info!

That's not all, you'll be able to devellope some new stuff and gain some original staff, nothing so special but since I got the game for 5 dollars it's like a DLC for TPP and GZ was pretty good and pretty challenging.

The only one worth a damn IMO is the one you get from the "Rescue Intel Team Member"
Aside from staff, you'll also get additional gear, like a gold-plated prosthetic arm (knocking out soldiers for a considerable amount of time compared to the default one), and the GZ version of the Sneaking Suit, which is extremely cheap to deploy with -- only 400 GMP, a good price early-game, where the economics are still weak.

IMO, they are a nice bonus for early-game, where most of the soldiers are all E, but towards mid-game, their contribution is greatly diminished. I had to discharge several GZ members -- including the Eye and the Finger -- because they were bogging down the Units' levels.

I wish I'd thoroughly played through Ground Zeroes before starting Phantom Pain, like I originally planned. Because right now I'm way too hooked on Phantom Pain to go back... haha

I've played GZ after 1100 hours on TPP (bought GZ for 5 dollars tho) and I enjoyed every part and challenge og GZ, now I know the true power of magazine and it reminded me how I love the hardest difficulty in MGS.

I'll definitely be playing it too, once I can pry myself away from Phantom Pain. Never too late to go back and play it!

Hey,

I know this thread is some days old, but I would like to know where I can find the GZ employees? I transfered my 100% GZ save file to TPP but can't find the Eye and the Finger nor the agent from the 'Rescue Intel Team Member'.

I think they just appear as volunteers after one of the missions.

GZ bonus soldiers are generally useful only for early gaming, their stats will be surpassed by soldiers extracted later. I guess you would prefer other bonus like Solid Snake skin or the sneaking suit that Big Boss used in GZ.

Same, and no bonuses in GZ appeal to me enough to go back and play what is essentially a demo.

You're right, the only useful bonus member is Hideo, the other GZ staff members are garbage, even in early game.

the bonus soldiers are crap, but you can get a cool suit
