About disposable suppressors...
Can't the R&D division just weld the suppressor in place to prevent it from detaching?

you'd think wouldnt you. i was not fond of it in my initial playthrough of MGS but as the games progressed i learned to expect the mechanic. now that i think more of it it forces you to be careful with your shots, as one mag can break an R1 suppresor. if you havent yet, look for R2 suppresors, while they still break they are more forgiving.

Some guns have integrated suppressor (nevers breaks), suppressor lifespan was introduced in MGS3 so by now I'm used to it.

Plus on MGSV you can always ask for more supplies (bring more suppressors) via helicopter.

i own a supressor in real life, You have to have the barrel threaded. You cannot weld on a gun barrel as the heat may or will warp the barrel affecting accuracy. In the USA, you can purchase a suppressor through a gunshop, however, you first must submit a request to tha ATFfor a liecense ($750) which may or may not be issued. The fee is non refundable. My suppressor was an additional $1500 plus the alteration to the barrel. You must also use sub-sonic ammunition. The weapons are not silent. There is low pop. Happy Hunting

lets say that the level 1 and 2 suppressors use wipes and the infinite suppressors use baffles. if you welded a suppressor that doesn't suppress sound after a magazine or two, then it's a worthless tube stuck on the end of your gun
Complete the Master Gunsmith Sideops (all three of them) to unlock weapon customization, and if you've researched handgun and rifles with higher-durability suppressors (like Medium-, or High-level endurance), you can fit those unto the lower-grade weapons. I mostly use a grade 1 Wu Silent Pistol with a R3 suppressor. The suppressor's durability outlasts the ammo count!

Suppressors work by witholding a bit of the gas produced, or slowing its release. As you can imagine, this can wear the internals down. Besides, it's not the supressor is detaching, it's that it is breaking. This is to make you learn how to control your fire. I just wish we could select the firing modes like we could in Snake Eater, at least as far as the M16 and AK-47 were concerned.
Grade 1 supressor lasts for 15 rounds, grade 2 lasts for 30, and grade 3 ones last for 60 rounds. I just wish we could carry multiple supressors.

yeah, i would liked to have the same feature from MGS 3, along with facecamo, but in the bright side of life, if you dont play on Fobs, Quiet would largely provides you with free supplies after a recon ,so , in the end, you can replace the now useless supressor. or get the burkov HS.

Are you referring to the abiliy to carry multiple suppressors or the ability to select firing mode? I am not a fan of full auto. Even if I were able to get my hands on a real M16, I would rarely use full auto.

I never used suppressor in real life but there are videos of it just falling off from rapid fire which makes sense, there is a lot of stress on that device.

in game it's a balance feature, makes you use bullets bit more economic and also forces you to be accurate

once you get to G3 suppressor you can fire 74 shots I think before it falls off. If you bring 3 weapons with you you can pretty much take entire map silently.
also in real life, suppressors don't suppress the noise that much, it still sounds like a hammer punch and is noticeable, in game you can fire 2m away from someone and they won't hear, even suppressed shotgun which is a bit redundantt

Why? Sure in real life it may be easier to control, but without any kind of recoil its really easy to pull of single shots, bursts of any count, or full auto in videogames.

You guys talking about suppressors in this game, now I am wondering in this game does using suppressors lowers power and also reduce accuracy? I haven't really test them out thoroughtly..

Fun fact, in real life, suppressors should actually increase the impulse of the kick from a weapon, since more gas is diverted to cycling the gun instead of exiting the muzzle, at least in something with a gas tube. (I'm not sure about pistols)

You'd need to find a Vietnam-era M16 if you're looking for automatic.
