METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

This game is just so boring.
It's very sad. I replayed MGS3 so many times, especially on PS Vita. MGS3 is a game I love to play, playing MGSV after many hours makes me sad and angry. Why is it that MGS3 is still so fun to play but MGSV is dull?

I say MGSV is dull because of the mission structure. It seems intentionally designed to damage the whole game. It never really improves and there is far too much of it. And none of the locations are as memorable as any other game between MGS1 and now V. V is so weird compared to the other games.

And just think Kojima wanted to make the game even bigger! The game is incomplete remember.
People need to stop comparing MGSV to MGS3.

Kojima labeled the game "Tactical Espionage Operations" like Peace Walker, while 3 was labeled "Tactical Espionage Action".

that's why you have an army and a load of weapons to choose from before missions.
And for your information, there are few weapons you can find during missions, and many weapons need you to find blueprints and personnel to develop them, so it's kinda similar but a longer process to use them.

If you find the game boring then you are doing something wrong. I mean, you have insanly large arsenal, vehicles, buddies and more to give you many approaches and game styles doing your missions. Still not convinced? Play with naked outfit, 1 or no weapons and try to finish missions with only CQC, God it was so fun in my experience.

Agree.

are you confusing bordeom with nihilism? the game is a long exercise in the emptyness and futileness of war. it's a brilliant game in my opinion but, you know, to each his own.

Wow... so now we can't even compare a metal gear solid game with another metal gear solid game? Do you really understand how dumb that sounds from a critical poiint of view?
I mean, can you compare MGS Ac!d with MGS2? Or P.T with Silent Hill 3?

OP said the game is boring, which is from gameplay-pespective, not overall product.
MGS3 has a different gameplay than MGSV when it comes to level-progression and deployment.

But You can compare MGS Twin Snakes to MGS1 because it's a remake of it, Or MGS4 to MGS3 because the gameplay continued and expanded from there.

MGSV is continued from Peace Walker and Portable Ops not MGS1,2,3,4.

So let me get this straight, the average hours for completing the game is around 50 hours, you said "You don't know how many times I uninstalled it, only to give it another chance" and yet you manage to reach 274 hours which is more than enough to complete the game 100%. With that amount of hours spent on the game I think you clearly gave the game "another chance".

Yeah I wasted too much time playing a game I dislike. It's the truth.

I wish this game has more memorable lines, easter eggs, and codec moments. After hearing....

"JOHN WESLEY HARDING GET DOWN! The enemy sniper."

"You destroyed the anti air radar?! Its not part of the mission but it will cripple the enemies air detection. Now you can land the chopper in a nearby outpost!"

"Yep thats an enemy gunship!"

"You re not serious about leaving him there are you?!"

"What are you doing? You are leaving the mission area!"

I wanna put "Buzzkill" Miller in a choke hold then choke slam em to the ground. For the octillionth time it gets too damn annoying! He should have stayed QUIET! X.x

I don't understand how you can find MGSV boring. Lacking in challenge, maybe, but there are ways to deal with that problem (like infinite heaven mod, for example).
There is so much variety in potential approach to a mission that it's not even funny.

You'll have a lot more fun with this game if you stop taking it too seriously. Instead of going in with your usual Sneaking Suit/Battle Dress and whatever loadout you use, try CQCing as many guards as possible. Or use the Water Pistol. Or the Rocket Arm. Stuff like that.

You've probably already beaten the story once or twice, so I honestly don't see the problem. The game IS an open-world game, which will always suffer from some kind of boredom issue after a while. It's just inherent in the genre because the game isn't trying to make you do anything specific like a linear game.

If you haven't already: Start a new game. Build everything up again. That's the satisfying part (imo).

Oh, and Quiet is awesome for all the obvious reasons. Deal with it. xD
He has a point, this IS Metal Gear.

I can guarantee you that next to nobody played MGS3 for nearly that long. Getting tired of these threads licking MGS3's boots.

I've put over 1000 hours into it across all platforms. And am replaying it from scratch on my PS4 again.

Addicting and fun.
