Let go of the rocket punch ?
I find the controls of the rocket really lame, both with a keyboard or a controller, so I wondered if there was a way after firing the punch to simply let go of it instead of controlling it ?
The punch already keeps boosting forward when you run out of battery or get past its radio range, so there gotta be a way to let go of the controls on the fly.

You'd think so, but I haven't figured it out; I just always run the sucker into the ground or a wall when I'm done with it.

There's this, though I wanted to let go of it mid-flight so I could fire it in straight line and forget it, instead of having to cope with the weird controls.

it's controls is actually perfectly fine, at least with controller, considering you're playing with solid XONE or X360 controller for windows and not some aftermarket crap. rocket arm, STN version 2nd grade, once developed actually makes capturing small guardposts with 4-6 soldiers in it extremely trivial, since you can knock everybody out with single arm launch.

it's only drawback is like you said, that you can't release it mid-air. and you can't launch it while prone so you're defenseless once you launch your arm. because if someone spots you and triggers reflex mode you can't make use of it because you're now flying with arm in slow-mo.

I might not have a high-quality controller, but I don't see a difference at all with the keyboard. And I have various other reason to not use a controller on this game anyway...
I'm surprised no one ever made a mode to enable mouse-controls.

That's one other reason I'd rather not have controls at all on the rocket punch, except maybe for scouting.

I've found the game gets weird with it on FOBs, though; differing elevations sometimes start to trigger it's 'i'm going too far away ahhhh' mode.
